What's the difference between the 04' and 05' 450r's besides color? I heard one year has bad crank barrings but i dunno which. Please gimme all the differences.

I am looking into getting an R. I was wondering the same thing, i did a search and some thread said the 05 was faster??? I dont know if I believe it.

The only difference I've heard is that some of the 05's are known for crank failure.

crank bearings I heard and I know I should totally know this but what's your crank? sumthin to do with the kickstart???

the frames have different part numbers I don't know what the difference is but there is one

your crank is the main part of the engine. W/O it you have no engine. Your connecting rod connects to the crank. Your piston connects to your connecting rod.

Cory seriously if you dont understand the basics of engines you may need to reconsider what your getting yourself into.

the 05's have beefed up side cases so that they dont blow out from the kickstarter like the 04's also the 05's are supposidly faster, but no one can prove this by any stretch, just rumors, they also have a much softer seat while the 04 seat is like a yfz seat, also its not only the 05's with crank problems its both, and they r fixed now, i have over 300 hours on my 05 and no problems :macho

I have an 04 and my buddy has an 05. Other than a very slight difference in the stickers,I have found no external changes or differences.
His 05 is no faster or slower than mine.

Oh ,yeah there is a difference,his frame sticker reads 2005,mine reads 2004!

Thanx man, my first quad is my 04' 400ex and i'm ready to upgrade. So what if I don't know alot. I'm learning as I go and went from not knowing to knowing basicly everything besides an engine. He11 I bet that I could even put a cam in mine. And if sumthin happens and I can't fix it then I have alot of "friends" unlike you to help me out. I know 3-4 engine builders close to me that would help me out and prolly do it free of charge. But like I said, every new problem I get I learn how to fix it if it happens again. So stfu and actually think that maybe There's other ways to own something without knowing everything about it.:rolleyes: And thanx again Ridin' Jesse for stickin up for me. o yea #1 SB why did ya want me to buy your 250r then if ya don't think that I should even get a 450r?????? A 4stroke is more reliable than a 2stroke and yes I know that. well if they're modded about the same then, it's like that. Just please think about that and give me an answer that's 1/2 way nice when you're done.;) :rolleyes:
