Im just warning you to take these precautions because when you blow up a 4stroke dirtbike,it takes out everything. The Crf's are the highest maintnance 250f of all of them. As Alloy said, they are VERy well known for going through valves. The Yamaha seems to be the least amount of maintnance.

04s had a more serious problem. My crf has over 40 hours and the valves are still in alignment. Make sure you change the oil every few rides however. It never hurts. You'll love it its great. The low end power is great and the handling is incredible. Break it in right and you will have no problems. Valves will go out of alignment for the people who think "duhh i don't need to follow break in procedures my friend tells me blah blah blah. I can ride it as hard as I want."

Just giving some info if your are buying it new. If its used start her up see if it runs good and if it makes any ticking or other unusual sounds..

Heres a pic of mine the day I bought it.

i hate ppl who dont race and try to talk like they know things. mxjunkie69 im willing to bet uve never ridden a 20 minute moto in ur life. what alloy said is what every pro rider does along with the a,b,and c riders do. its just common since if ur a racer to get new fluid in the engine every race. and mxjunkie69 u must be real poor if u cant afford oil that is $10 a quart.

On my cr when you have the clutch in it sounds like it is cut but when you crack the throttle she comes back to life. Mabe the same with yours or mabe you have to turn the idol up a bit. Ask alloy were it is he knows a **** of alot more than i do about 4 strokes.
