Brake pad wear?

How do know when my brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced? I took them out and cleaned them up. They SEEM to be in decent condition. How can I tell for sure?

It is real simple, if there is no or almost no material on the metal backing plate the are worn out. Metal on metal does not stop very well.

so as long as they have a good amount of pad left, they good? And what about discs? How much can they be worn down to?

If you have ever rid'n in water or sand, their probably worn down, but usually if they have meat left they are ok.

They got a decent bit of meat left, I try and stay out of water and mud.

They still wear out fast:D
