Shock Adjustment

How do you adjust the front shocks on a stock 400. 2003 model. I know it's probably simple but something doesn't seem right. I've tried using a punch and hammer but i'm either a wimp or i'm not hitting it in the right spot. THanks.... The best place to ride in ohio is WAYNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!:devil:

if they are anything like the 300 there is a ring around the top of the spring with different size notches. Get a pair of channel locks and twist them to go either softer or harder. If they are like the 300's let me know, i will scan the pic from my owners manual.
