alrighty. I am getting a good deal on this truck (friend of mine, knowing i need a new vehicle for my new business) and hes offering it to me. Here it is:

1999 Chevrolet C/K1500
-extended cab
-short bed
-5.0 v-8
-power everything
-146K miles ( i have known the truck since 16K miles, used very lightly)
-pushbutton 4x4
-alloy 5 spoke wheels
-truck box in back
-towing pkg.

the truck has been almost all highway miles. The current owner is 53 years old and about ready to retire. Hes very laidback and the truck has a good bit of new parts-

new fuel pump (at 105K)
new intake gasket (same as above)
New brake system (new MC, rebuilt calipers and other things)
all new belts and hoses at 105K too. What do you think. He is offering it to me for 8,500.

I am buying an 01' sierra (GMC) 2wd single cab with a 5.7 for just under $10,000 I also am buying from a dealer and I live in Ca. so prices are a little higher I'm sure.

Try kbb.com it is usually pretty acurate for getting price ranges.

Sounds pretty good. Look around to see what others go for. Also they just make a 4.8 and 5.3 I believe, which one is it?

By golly you're right!

I just went back to the dealer and looked at it better. It is a 5.3 (pretty much a 327)

This is true. Once they switched to the Vortech. But before 99' the had 305's in some of their trucks.

305c.i.=5.0L

You could still get the 5.7 in 99 and I believe the 5.0, if you opted for it, but not many were made. 8500 is probably close to the value of the truck, atleast in this area, if it is a clean truck with no dent and stuff.

There are 2 body styles in 1999...its a cross over year.

Old Body Style = 5.7 350
New Body Style = 5.3 325 (I guess most round it up to a 327)

That is true, but you could also get the 350 in the new body style in 99 also. I have only seen a few of them though.

All 99' pick-ups have the new body style. As for engine options ??? idk?

The suburbans and tahoes kept the old body style for 99 but all silverados are rounded in the front.

Not all '99 half-tons were the new Silverado/Sierra body style, you could still get the C/K series body style for '99. The C/K trucks came with the Vortec style small block, 5.7 and possibly 5.0, only the newer style Silverado/Sierra come with the LS1 derived motors, and these newer styles did NOT come with the 5.7/5.0. No exceptions.

Did not know that.

Guess they had to get rid of old stock some how.

Wow!
two people had a difference of opinion on a subject and the thread didn't get turned into a flame fest. I can't believe it! Lol

There were exceptions, I've been all over the one that had it. It was a 99 new body style, only thing that may have been different was it may have been a fleet truck cause it was the truck the guys company gave him. I cleaned the truck for the guy several times and looked dead at the engine size on the decal under the hood, and yes it was the factory decal. I don't know if you could get 5.0 but I know you could get a 5.7 new body style truck.

It is kinda surprising, and I am sure I will get flamed over the new style with a 350, but I don't care if they believe me or not. I saw it, I drove it, oh well, I'm not going to argue and argue over it.

I thought it was weird how when chevy changed the trucks they were bringing back old engine sizes.

My sister's boyfriend has a silverado with a 350 in it and it is a '04 model. It has the same engine as a Regency silverado but it is not a manual tranny and is extended cab.

sorry, you guys are full of chit. You CANNOT walk into a GM dealership today and order a Silverado with a 5.7 350!!!!

These are the only engine options for the Silverado.

4.3L V6
4.8L V8
5.3L V8
6.0L V8
8.1L V8
6.6L V8 Duramax

NO other options from the factory!

Dude, I'm not saying today, I'm saying in 99, think I'm full of whatever, I don't care. They were available in 99, you think what you want, and I'll just stick with the facts.

please look at WHO I QUOTED. He was talking about a '04 model... and I said TODAY you cannot buy a Silverado with the 350.

as I said before, 99 was a cross over year. I never called you a liar. I have never seen or heard of a NBS Silverado with a 350, only OBS - 1999 had both body styles....so who knows.

Tommy, your right... that was the ONLY truck available with the 5.7L...actually I belive you could get it in the 2000 model as well. ONLY the 2500 (before the HD's came out)....

...the 1500 NBS only came with a 4.8 or 5.3.
