UNI or Pro design

I dont prefer the K&N due to it does not filter the fine sand and dust as well as a foam filter>

Each to there own I guess:cool:

I've got a Curtis Sparks foam and have no complaints.

Chalk another up for K&N. I have had them on approx 8 bikes, all dune ridden, and I have never had any problems. As stated before, to each his own, (chevy vs ford vs dodge). I would think as long as you go with a Brand name ( K&N, UNI, etc) you will be fine.

K&N with outerwears. I have seen more people have problems with foam filters than any K&N from my experiences. Sometimes it seems like people look at a K&N and seem to think it would let more stuff through than a foam filter. My 2 cents.

i prefer foam, take your pick on brand. I have the sparks filter.. no particular reason other than it has the metal ring that makes me feel safer becasue i can really tighten the filter down onto it.

There was a dyno test done with filters and the K&N gave more HP than the UNI, but the UNI had more torque. It was probably a difference of like .02 horsepower, but there was a difference.

you must be kidding about using a K&N right? Feel the inside of your air intake and you will wipe off TONS of dirt if ridden in dusty conditions, even Sparks will tell you NEVER run a K&N without a foam outer filter!(which he sells) I have 30+ years of MX riding under my belt and this is just one of the NO NO's i have learned. But call Sparks if you need "expert" advice.....

I use K&N and its working great. But I also have a outerwears cover, outerwears lid and I keep it clean and always check it after a dusty race or ride. I think if you keep a real good check on it and always clean it with K&N's kit they have you should be fine.
