lean and rich ?'s fast!

im not sure but isnt it that when an engine is running lean it is hot and when it is rich it is cooler?

Yes, to a certain point thats true. Then your bike wont run..you fould plugs..and so on

When you have more air in the cylinder than you have gas you are running lean.
When you have more gas than air you are running rich.
White silverish gray plug you are running lean.
Light brown brown Dark brown you are running good.
light black black wet black you are rich or fouled.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you run race gas 100 octane or higher you will have a tough time reading your plugs because they will read lean and might not be.
