the largest bore size on a stock sleeve is 88 mm or 426 correct?

what are the downsides of a 426 with 11.1

anyones run very hot or have problems with head studs or head gaskets?

thx

88mm is the biggest bore on the stock sleeve. It's kinda too far, but it'll work. I went with a new sleeve just to be safe.

I road mine through 1 half tank of gas when 2 headstuds pulled out and blew my headgasket. I got GT Thunder H-D Headstuds and Cometic Flex Steel gaskets and no problems since (gone through 2 tanks since they we're installed).

My old rod was bad, so I went with a Wiesco Heavy duty crank and rod to handle the bigger bore and more compression.

A new cam and port and polish will really open her up if you have done so already...

I love my 426. The difference in power is night and day. You won't be disappointed.

I'd highly reccomend going with JE or Ross (I went with Ross myself) over Wiesco. Wiesco bases there 426 pistons off of the XR400 which has slightly higher compression then the 400ex, thus making the compression lower then 11:1.

If you have anymore questions, just ask.

Make sure to go with new sleeve, mine just went KaBoom:grr: 426 bore on stock sleeve, 11:1 wiseco. What's left of sleeve and piston are stuck in engine case, have to take engine out ( if I ever get swingarm bolt out!) and split to see what is screwed up. I haven't had any problem with the stock bolts or gaskets.

Hey man maybe you should really think about getting a Josh-proof wheeler so you wouldnt have to fix it all the time. Or maybe listen to your friends.....:D cause they know best

i had some problems with my 426 11:1 when i first got it. i blew on gasket and pulled my headstuds. i got it fixed and blew another gasket. now i have a flexsteel and have not had any prblems yet after about 5 months and many tanks of gas.

i do not have HD head studs. i used Heli coils to put NEW stock studs in whne mine pulled the first time. The flexsteel gasket definitally made a difference in mine. mine is also on the stock sleeve. It runs warmer than a stock one would but not too hot. I have had no heat issues once i got my jetting right. I run a little rich to keep it cool. too lean creates too much heat.

mine has been a 426 bored on the stock sleeve for 2 years now with an 11:1 comp arens piston and I have no heavyduty studs. I have a pingry oversized oil tank for cooling and thats it. Never had any headboltstud/headgasket/overheating problems....knock on wood... so far. I clean my airfilter after every few rides ( k&N). And with 100 octan klotz mine seems to perform the best and run the coolest. Also just running regular honda oil ( not sythetic ). With reegular maintenance you should have zero problems with a 426 bore on a stock sleeve. :D
