Posted your pics backwards hah..Not too bad looking. I believe that heat shield will rust. so your gonna have to keep up with it. If you have stock rims then you can't really polish them up much. If your going to do the engine. Your better off taking the cases off, easier to strip sand and polish. If you wanna polish more. Do your motor mounts they will turn out good. try and stick with things that are aluminum to polish. good job though :)

I have heard if you are going to polish the cases, have it bead blasted, it will save you a lot of time and sweat. I am sure you can have you stock wheels bead blasted as well if you want to polish them up. Just my thoughts.

Your wasting your time polising the side cases. They'll be dull again after 1 or 2 rides in the mud. Get them chromed and be done with it.

Depends on what grit they bead blast them..It could help..or make it more of a pain in the azzzz, Polishing can't be as good as chrome..but it can come close. and it doesn't chip off. you just have to do basic upkeep. but if you have a buffer and time to do it then theres no problem. Your motor mounts will turn out good, make sure you sand to the highest grit possible the smoother the part before polishing the better because the polish just smooths it more. Good job and good luck with the other parts you do. :)

Pvt. Maggot do you like to use a Dremel? I just started using the a dremel to polish and clean things up, man what a difference and how nice they are. I polished up the head cover on my engine quite a bit, have to see how long it lasts...

I use a high speed buffer..dremels don't do anything for me..you think those things spin fast you should see my buffer.

The heat sheild on a 400ex is NOT stainless. Go take a magnet to it. You'll see. I polished mine a while ago and it started getting surface rust a few days ago...I repolished it yesterday.

For me, I use a 25,000 RPM die grinder with a 4in buffing wheel.
