spacer or not!!!!

The spacer on a 310. should it be used on a 86 short rod or not. the piston at full extension is about the thickness of the plate from the top of the cylinder. to me that is loss of comp.

if you add the spacer you need to do 1 of 2 things in order to have anywhere near good compression. have a long rod installed (or stroker), or you need to have the top of the jug (gasket surface of course) milled off the thickness of the spacer+ the extra gasket you have to use. carefull with that thought because you can mess up port timing. then check tolerances and see how close it is. or you can just not use the spacer i suppose. im not familiar with installing 310 kits on R's....
