I just want to know if there are any years that a 250r had problems. for example, say one year a z400 had a weak frame and for 2005 the frame was beefed up.

I have an 86 frame :) no problems :) Cant say for the other years, have not really heard of any frame problems.

every year the 250r was made it was great. but i think the 88-89 had a slightly different piston, and a longer or shorter swinger, i might be wrong, but im possitive there was a difference between the 86-87, and 88-89

yeah dude, the 250r was great all years

in 86 it had the motor from the 3-wheeler 250rs

the ports were wide and it made it weaker and if you ported them out it made it really weak especially when the piston was goin up and down

in 87-89 they put a brace in between it so it was a lot stronger

88 is the best year, and so is 89, apparently they made some changes then but i know 88 is the best year

88-89 were the best years, but they all were good, honda did it right the first time
