in my opinion blasters should run with air box lid on all the time no matter what

you'll have to rejet for sure, you will have a good power increase tho. just make sure you have a good air filter(uni or white brothers) and clean it constantly!

correct. you will have to go up at least two or 3 sizes on the main jet, and maybe even 1 down on the needle.

dont worry, if you dont have much money re-jetting is cheap (2 or 3 bucks for a main jet) and rejetting the needle is free. if you dont know how to jet, just say so and i'll write up a step by step. its real easy if you just get in there and do it

there is a million tutorials online that show u how to jet and help u to understand it... if u really dont wanna take on the task have a local shop do it for u its cheap and if u want to take the lid off i would sugest getting a pro flow intake adaptor just to make shure u always have a solid seal so nuthin gets past the filter and always have a outerwear on the K&N

I think you should just keep the air box on it will keep more dirt out.

no you will not because its not totally open.good idea though.just make sure your air filter is oiled so it doesnt let dirt in.

You can buy a lid with multiple holes in it with a screen overlaying the top of it. Then just utilize a K&N and rejet. YOu will notice a significant power gain. But please do not just run with the lid totally off, it's not recommended.
