i went to my honda dealer today to try to buy the rubber covers for my a arms. I was told that i cant buy them and that i should buy aftermarket arms. Now the only problem them is i recently bought elka shocks but had them valved (sp?) for stock a arms. I searched for +0 a arms and cannot find any. I dont want to send my brand new elka's back to get fitted for new arms. If you have any suggestions please help me. Thanks,
Steve

take your a-arm to the local auto parts store, my bud found some 2-piece boots that worked on his. Not sure what they were intended to be for. Good Luck

I think what he means is for you to buy a used set of stockers for yourself off ebay versus ponying up the coin for aftermarket arms and having your shocks revalved.

If you could get me a picture of them that would great. I dont want to revalve the shocks because all i did was mount them up and put the quad in the shed... lol. Does any company make stock length a arms? I am probally just going to give ECA a call they prob have something.

i used to get mine fro houser racing. i dont see them on their site anymore but you can give them a call and see if they still sell the. their site is underconstruction so that could be why. but give them a ring. their number is: 1 877 6 GO-FAST

last year when i had my z400, and the rubber was tore, thats where i bought my rubber caps from. they said if they didnt fit send them back. they worked perfectly. the 400ex ones are identical to the z400 ones so if they have them for $5 a cap, your saving a ton compared to buying a-arms.

the thing is it is on a 300ex. The guy at the Honda dealer said that they are pressed into the arm when they are made...:ermm:

Call up Burgards, I bet he would make you a stock width set...

You can buy aftermarket arms w/ the stock length shocks. I have stock length elkas on my yfz and just purchased some +2's that'll bolt right up.

if i do that i am still not going to be able to use my shock in the right way. With them my shock would most likly compress all the time.

I don't know and I could be wrong... but why would they compress all the time? I thought that the shocks bolt up the same way they'd do on standard travel arms, it's just that they're longer lengths thus giving you more width. Am I correct:confused:

Im kind of in the same dilemma. I have +2 arms on the way and I also have elka rec shocks on stock a-arms right now. Problem is the elkas are going to be a lot softer now on the +2 a-arms. I just got a price for a revalve and respring and its like $180 not including shipping both ways!!! Im selling my shocks and buying brand new ones. Yeah Im selling my elka recs and buying NEW elka recs that are setup for the +2's cause it will be cheaper.

good news guys. I called elka and Sebastion said that i can use stock lenghth shocks on +1 arms. I feel so releaved that i dont have to send my shocks out, but he said that for both springs it is on $75. Not bad but not needed on brand new shocks.

If i understand what i read you tore the boot . right? whats the problem? use the replacment boots the other guy was talking about. the boot is there to keep the ball joint clean! that doesn't mean you ruined your arms!

as for shocks its the spring/valving that is different. the wider you go with your arms the more leverage on the shocks. so stock shocks or shocks set for stock arms would be to soft for +1,+2,+3
arms. but the shocks for all these arms are the same length.

unless they r for long travel

My boots on my balljoints have been torn for months now.... I'm not replacing the balljoints till they have play and show wear.

I had the same problem, I just got on ebay and bought 400ex a arms, tie rods, shocks, and a shock relocator. It worked well for me and I was happy overall. I just do fair races every summer and it suits me well for that. all together i spent about 300 on it.
