where should i start

I completed a 416 kit with xr 400 cam. Added e-series silencer (12 disks) and a outerwears cover. I currently have 42 pilot / 165 main/ dyno jet needle. It seems to be runnin lean. I was gone order a pack of jets from dennis kirk. But they run 160-170 then 170 - 180. What should i do?

Buy the jets individually at your local Honda dealer.

a 165 main jet is pretty darn high already are you sure it is running lean? a lot of people run jets that are too high a 165 should be about the largest you need for a 400 with stock carb.

I've got a 165 main in my 416 and it's been rich ever since I put it back together....

I switch betweeen a 158 and a 160 main with my 426 and that is plenty.
