Ok for some reason I decided to put valvoline 10W-30 in my quads today not relizing that the manual says this is too low of a weight for the temperature (about 80-95 degrees). I plan on going to Silver lake on saterday for some dune riding and was woundering if it would hurt it to run the 10W-30, or should just waste the oil and switch it for 10W-40 or something else. If its not good to run it what could happen? Thanks Guys.

scrap that stuff and go to a 20w50 weight oil. Not sure what youre riding, but if its an EX, you NEED the 50 weight oil to keep from breaking down in the heat

especially in the dunes.

10w40 minimum.

I run AMSOIL 20w50 synthetic in my 330ex.

ohh yeah, Ive got 2 400ex's, will the 10w-30 at least work for the day, or will it break something?

Why would you want to risk damaging hundreds of dollars in your motor when you can just change it and run 20w50 for about 15 bucks?

No it won't hurt it! Multi weight oil is designed for use in fluxuating temperatures. In the Winter when it is cold it will thicken to the higher weight. and then normalize when the engine is running. I run AMSOIL 20-50 also in my 450 KFX.

Just my 2 cents!

If in doubt? Which it sounds like you might be. Change the oil to your preferance. And as far as Dune ridding I would make sure to oil the air filter.
