View Full Version : Time to tone down the bashing and the language
Jesus people cant a single simple thread be made without fighting? I'm gonna call the admin this evening about this, its gotten out of hand. Actually its only about 8 or 10 people causing grief and they can be gone quick for the sake of the site running smoothly.
Ive gotten to the point if I see one more person calling someone a D***head, A**hole , a MF or any other name as such im gonna boot them plain and simple and sleep like a baby.

Aren't they all pay as you go in one way or another? Just seems like most of them I have had seem to function more often and better if you spend money on them, may just be the high maintenence ones I pic. Then again, I have had some that you just pick em up and go down by the river, those are the best kind, thank ya and I'll call in a day or two, maybe!

The forum has the option of changing any word to any word you want, its just the admin has to actually get up and configure it.

It is impossible to block out every bad word and then every combination with all the @$$holes and such.
I think the complaint is more in the attitudes and differences of opinion that cannot be overlooked than the actual curse words being written on the boards.

There's some immaturity here and plain and simple..........need to grow-up! Thanks SGA!! Its about time something got done! Its gone way too long!

Oh, if you get booted by a mod, only the admin can reinsate you, mods cannot reinstate booted members. Dont PM us mods singing the blues, we cant do a thing to get you back on the site.

Not at all. Opinions have always been welcomed on this site Its mostly to stop fighting and cursing in the threads and to get rid of people that are purposely starting thread wars by thier comments.

it does get a little ridiculous sometimes, half the time it seems like its just a few 2-year olds... i dont mind the language though, but rather the attitude and some of the personal attacks...

the good part of all this is that it is not up for discussion. the fact that we have a ton of younger members is causing problems that frankly, we will not deal with any longer. there will always be stupid issues, but the bashing and degrading of the site by members is over. we dont spend the money we do bringing race coverage and infomation from around the atv world so that a few bad apples can ruin it by being ignorant. it does not matter if you are 13 or 42, you grab a mods intrest and you will soon be gone. and banning is not the cure, an IP ban will take care of the majority of troublemakers. sure you can make changes and log back on, but once we find you you will be gone again. the 3 strike rule doesnt exist here any more.
so, to those that get offended by what ive posted, fear not. you have choices.
1) enjoy the site in a manner that isnt causing others problems (you know who you are)
2) go make yourself home at a number of other websites devoted to atv's. we would rather have you trashing thier site and not ours.(there is a reason for this site growing and trash is not permitted)
3) maybe try being part of the site in a good way. getting your rear end out of the chair and on to the seat may make you want to join in the fun and participate in the tech side of threads. (posting your jimmy is to small in a thread about pistons just isnt getting you any points around here no matter how badazz of a rider you think you are)
4) probably the most important thing to remember....the open forum is not your home! we have a group of members that RARELY do anything helpful or constructive, they merely spend thier time posting CRAP in the open forum. (again, you know who you are)
so there you have it. if you dont like the way things are run or done, dont let the door hit you where the good lord split you. this site is getting ready to start jumping once again and its time to do some fall cleaning.

all i know is that the quality of posts (open forum) have gotton really bad. a quick search showed a small number of members that were causing most of the problems. it is being dealt with.
i hate being a hardazz, i hate turmoil. i would much rather come to this or any website and not see a bunch of internet fighting. and when you add in some of the stupidest threads and posts one can ever imagine, most will agree something needed to be done. maybe its just the fact we as humans dont rely on common courtesy anymore that drives normal people to completely loose all common sense on a website....i have no clue.
all i know is that its being cleaned up. the ones caught in the clean up can go post at others sites what peckerwoods we are, you can send threatening emails, call us names....it will not deter us from our goal. no power trips, no im better then you, just plain decency is all i ask and im sure the other mods will agree.
i am not the main mod, we are all equal and share in the responsiblity of maintaining some form of order within the guidelines of what the site owner wants. that sometimes makes us pricks, but we will loose no sleep over it. and yes, we will make mistakes, they havent issued a section for us on walking on water yet.
im out, have fun and enjoy the site.
Pappy, im always hesitant to report posts to mods, because i dont really wanna bother anyone. Should we save the reports for really bad posts, or are you trying to completley clean up the site?

I can answer that. Its never a bother when post are reported, in fact its a big help to us mods and the site in general when posts are reported plus it saves us mods from burnout.
If you see any posts that are excessive arguing, porn, jacklegs going off and the like, PLEASE use the report button! There is NO way a handful of mods can cover the entire site, its just too big.
I never have and never will say who reports a post and i've never seen any person that has reported a post mentioned in the mod forum over the years, so I know the other mods also keep that stuff to themselves.
So, report posts if you want to and help the site out.

i wont ever say who did it unless you pull something like a member did tonight. he reported teh thread as being inappropriate then proceeded to post more inapproprite material. i called him on it..lol
just do what you think is right.

Glad to see some cleanup is going on around here. I replied to one of the gas threads earlier(first mistake lol) and it went awry so fast I never even got to see what was said. I didn't think I said anything that would ruffle any feathers but I guess it did anyways. I really try to be a respectable member of the site and help others and I wish other folks would just do the same. I just wonder why things have been so crazy around here lately?

I would like to echo this statement. Reporting posts is a HUGE help for us, it really makes our jobs much easier.
Although I wasn't a mod back then, I imagine things were much more simple when the site was just a few tech sections and the open forum. However, we now have race coverages, sections specific to certain models, and a much larger member base. We just don't have time to to cover the entire site, reading every thread looking for problems, the site is simply too big.
Reporting posts lets us know exactly where problems are located, and we can deal with it accordingly.
