I came across a nice 400ex engine, one of my friends can fab mounts easily. What will i need otherwise to do he swap other than the oil cooler and a cdi, pipe etc. WOuld it be worth it?

i figure it would take me about 850 dollars to do the swap completely including ignition, oil cooler, fab the mounts etc...
if i put that into my motor would it be as fast and reliable as doing the swap?

sell your 300ex.

buy a 400ex

no offense, but that is a huge waste of almost a grand... if anything sell your 300 and put that money into a 400ex or z400, they both go for incredibly cheap nowadays

whatever happened to bein unoriginal...besides ive tried sellin my 300 no one wants to buy my poor old piece of crap:(

I say go for it. I have seen pictures of one that has had the 400ex engine swap before, and when someone is sitting on the quad, a quick glance and you will think it's just a 300ex. It would be a good sleeper. But you deffinatley will want to gusset the frame, and get shocks if you don't already have them.

What are you using the bike for??If its xc then it would probly work real good!If you are running mx then I would have to say no way....300 ex is too limited on suspension without spending a fortune..But if all ya doin is riding and having fun go for it!
It would be different.Slip up on some unsuspecting poor 300ex
stockers and wear em out..Its not like the gnc mx ers and tt ers
didnt swap out 350 x motors on their 300ex and 250 x bikes.
There were some fast pro am bikes running on 250 x frames back in the day.

nice bike how much did ya want for it? if you dont do the swap i might be interested in your bike in a couple of weeks after i sell the 440.

well im lookin for somthin in the 1500- to 2000 range i just want somthin so i dont have to get fully out of riding i was planing on sellin my 440 and buyin a 300 or 250x and usin the rest for a car

well u say partial trade, how much cash would i have to offer you for the 440 and my 300, we may be able to work out a deal if you are willing.

well im not sure but if you want to make an offer ill consider it. could you email me some more pics and a mod list. ill email you pics of the 440 but its still a roller as of now i should be gettin the motor in it next week, ill also send you a mod list
