i am getting a brand new 400ex on thursday
i am getting a new axel which is a lonestar or a rpm
but i have a question about a-arms which should be better for MX
+2, 2+1, or long travel +3 with long travels i need to get new shocks right and will it keep me under the 50-inch rule for width for racing

Well for the Axle I would get the RPM Dominator. The Long Travel A-Arms would be better, but I think on a 400 the +3`s would get you past the 50 inch mark unless you have Offset Rims. I would just get +2 Long Travels. Most Guys don`t run +3 and I know Lonestar says to get +2`s with the +1-1/4 Swingarm. I would just get the +2 Long Travels Arms. What Houser, Herrmann, Walsh, and others have Long Travel Arms.

I would just get +2 normal setup with some goof shocks if you only have so much cash and go with the RPM axle.

how much r the 2+1 and can i have some companies that make them

I was told by houser racing and roll that the +3 with 4+1 offset wheels give the best ride. Also with +3 you use 19" shocks which gives you more travel.

Any company will make them so they can get your money some of them might just sent you normall ones though. i HOPE NO COMPANYS DO THAT.

I would get the Herrmann`s or Houser. Anything after that you are looking at some Big Money. For the Shocks you will have to choose between Elka, PEP, or Axis. They are all Good and it is your Choice what to run. I don`t think any are better then the other.

I like my Denton 2+1 A-arms alot, they have a nice powdercoated finish, which is somewhat like silver vein, but it's gray. Sorry I don't have a pic:blah

For Local Races you can be over 50 Inches, but not at the Nationals. Dave400 has a Sweet 400ex.

With +3 aarms you just have to run +4+1 offset to be under 50inches!!

ok cool i may get the long travels for the 16inch shock or just regular 2+1

I order it from the quad shop and got a great price. Yes i have 4+1 offset wheels. I was told by most of the top chasis builders that the +3 with the 4+1 is the best for mx. If all you do is mx i would go with the +3. The rest of my parts have come in so this weekend i will get to test the new front end for the frist time.

You have to be at 50inches or under to race any AMA sanctioned event. At nationals they make you drive through a booth that is 50 inches wide exactly. If you cant get through it, then you dont race. Man its funny seeing people just at 50inches rubbing against the sides trying to get through.:p

Yeah that`s what I meant to say. Some of our MX Tracks around here are not AMA so they don`t care. Even if they were none of them around here would check. My Brother was at 52 Inches but put it in so he would be used to the 50 Inches.
