My 400EX is running between 250 and just under 300 degrees. Is this to hot? What temp are they supposed to run?

IS that oil temp or engine. If it is engine, you should be fine. A higher ambient temp raises engine temp a lot. You may also try higher octane fuel. Also, what is your jetting and mods?

This is my oil temp, I have one of those temp/dip stick gauges. My mods are listed in my signature. I dont know what the jetting is, I had C&D buiild the motor.

You need to be running premium minimum. You can try to mix a little race gas too, that should drop the temps slightly. You also may want to get the FST secondary cooler, or the kit from perma.

Did they jet the carb for you? I think you may be lean, especially if you are unsure about the jetting.

Yeah, I talked with Colby and that is what he said, 250-275 is normal. I just wondered cause I saw an article that said anything over 200 was bad.

air cooled engines run really hot anyways, so i wouldnt worry to much about it.;)
