I have finally decided to go big power now, giving my 400 a little more balls would a 440 kit with a magnum rev. box and stg 2 magnum cam be a good purchase for 330$ american.
I like to race, trail ride, ride pits, wheelie at high enough speeds, would this kit be reliable!? thanks
ps... please no comments from loving fathers of ***** riders :) lol jk excepting all!

stage 2 is more agressive for high comp.

A great motor like the 400ex is hard to make unreliable, but if you take shortcuts here and there you will not make the power it should and, or not be "reliable." Don't cheap out buy good parts.

I think a 11:1 small bore piston, HRC cam, and heavy clutch springs is hard to beat for the money spent.

I've been told the 440 Big bore kit with stg 2 magnum cam and rev. box will make it harder to start. is this true?? if so, how bad!??! thanks.

If it's hard starting then it must be the revbox. I have 13:1 compression and a stage 2 magnum and the puppy starts right up.

No problems here. I have the typical OMF scoop and use the cooler plug(drp9) and have the thermometer oil dipstick and havent gone over 250. I definitly love the cam. For those who dont know the stage 2 Magnum is an exact copy of the Web 479 grind. Gave me back the quickness and lowend like when it was stock. I had the Web 450/451 and had to wait on the power similar to a two stroker.

i got the new dennisk kirk in the other day and they have a 4mm stroker crank in there for the 400ex only $370.99 hot rods makes it. but then it also says you have to buy the 89 mm stroker piston for clearance issuses.......makes it a 460ex. but on the other hand i guess you could use whatever piston you want and get some one to cut the skirt off so it would clear. its not a bad deal on the stroker crank though

With a 12.5:1 you will have t run race gas. An 11:1 is about the highest you can go with 93 pump gas.

this 12.5:1 comp sounds a little unreliable can it be? is the 11:1 more reliable or what??? thanks

12.5:1 compression is less reliable because it creates more heat, and requires race gas, but the power difference is worth it.
If you cannot get race gas relatively easy or don't always have the money, go with 11:1. 11:1 creates less heat, but not as much power. You will still be very pleased though.

That's a good thing to know, so just to know for certain, how much more horsepower would i be getting with a 11:1 with the other parts.. and what would be that 12.5:1... just to let u know my plans... I my bro bought a yz125 obviously 2 stroke... kicks my *** here to hong kong. since my engine is finished i wanna give him a run for his money, and be proud of my honda once again :) lol thanks...
