Okay let me have it the good the bad and the ugly.......I just bought my wife an 05 350 Raptor. She has been riding an 02 300ex. I tried to graduate her to the 400ex when I bought the new 450R, but she felt the 400ex had to much power. I need to know if we made a lateral move in bikes or will the Rappy out perform the 300ex? She does like the styling of the new bike and I did get the K&N Pro flow kit, dr.d pipe, and some haulers on douglas wheels...man she's spoiled.....oh yeah will these add ons help out on this type motor????????

Thanks

Those add on's will definetly help on that motor. I personally think you made a lateral move. The raptor will have a little more top speed but the 300 has better torque and handling. I actually think you downgraded a little because I do not the like the raptor near as much as a piped 300, but its all personal preference. Plus you went from Honda to yamaha, and I dont like yamaha at all. But like I said, its all personal preference between those 2 quads. The raptor should be pretty reliable.

Thanks for your replies! We too are truley Honda fans, matter of fact this will be the first Yamaha purchase to date, and probably the reason I need reassurance on the change.........Spec for spec they seem pretty close at least in dimension. Although, Yamaha did make some changes and improvements on their Raptor with the pegs, ergonomics, carb, exhaust, etc. and does have roughly 70 more cc and well, we all know were Honda is on changing the 300. The plus side is, I sold two bikes and brought three more people in to our sport......keep the replies coming.

Thanks

The warrior motor in that rappy is very torquey and is quicker stock then a 300EX or even a piped EX...

Pretty much the intake is garbage on those bikes and the exhaust is VERY restrictive. My first mods would be a pro design clamp on K&N intake with outerwear, FMF Powerbobmb header, and a nice exhaust. The bikes like the Whitebros E, HMF, Pro Circuit T4, and the Yoshi; the stock header is already almost as good as it can get (yamaha did a great job) but the powerbomb header is MUCH lighter and gives you a 10% flow gain. The seat of the pants difference from intake and exhaust is VERY nice - puts you probably around 25 or 26 HP. After that I would get the edelbrock qwiksilver carb (no jets mmmm) because of the ease to tune and awesome throttle response. If you want some handling throw in an axle and A-Arms - they handle like a champ. My warrior is 48" wide in the front and 51" in the rear; I slide turns on pavement in 4th and 5th with ease... Also last but not least if you find it getting a little hot there is a DIRECT BOLT ON oil cooler setup for these bikes as well! Here she is!

The Elkas should be here monday or tuesday!
