putting dog to sleep

welll yesterday we found out that my dog had cancer and so we are going to put him down to solve his pain and discomfort.
We've had him for over 8 years and he was only 3 weeks old when we got him. My mother ran him over and collapsed his lung when he was like 3 months old and he made it through that and has been a good puppy, but we must put him to rest so that he can be ridded of all his pain and discomfort. He was a pure bread bischon frise(sp?)

i had to put down my black lab last year because he had something wrong with his kidneys. he was 12 and i was 14 so i pretty much grew up with him
