Honda 250X

My buddy has a honda 250X in great shape. He bought it for 600 maybe 3 months ago, well i guess he broke a valve off in the head, and its stuck in there, right now the motor is off and all i need is a new head, the frame is all painted, actually the new paint on the frame hasent even had a ride on it yet. Well anyway he said he would sell it to me for 300 and help me put it back together....
I am considering this deal but also there are a few other problems.... for one the front sprocket is welded on there gear ( I have no idea ) .... how hard would this be to fix ?? Thanks alot guys

I dont know man .... but that i was gunna do is buy it, get the head , then fix it all up for racing ..... Is this a good race quad ? i really wouldnt race it at tracks mostly just with friends at the pits and woods and stuff .... How hard would it be to maybe change the sprocket gear thingy ?

I would class it as a really fun sport quad. It can be turned into a good weekend racer with a little $$$$$$$$.

To change the final drive shaft you have to split the case, i.e. take the motor completely apart. If I were you, I'd buy the bike and a good shop manual, then start getting your hands dirty.

it all depends on how much you want to put into it. this is mine now except i just put a WB pro Meg full system on it. in october (bonus Check) all of this stuff is going on it.:D i have been told it will be a competitive little racer for its class. but that depends on the driver. i love mine though its an 87 and the thing is still running strong.


1. Burgard LT arms +4 +1
2. Elka triple rate with piggyback rezzies and comp adjust
3. Elka dual rate rear with comp/reb adjust
4. LT brake lines
5. web all around cam
6. new piston higher 12:1 compression
7. (1x) 10 sizes over stock TRX 250x main jet

for the head, if you cant find one for a 250x, im pretty sure the 300s will bolt right up, hope this helps

Well .... i bought it, i really like it to. Now .... the thing i have the problem is i went to bike bandit and they sell the whole cylinder head assembly (i.e Bolts, washers, and the cover) And the assembly is like 600 bucks .... But all i need is the head, i found a head on ebay for a 87' 250x .... do you guys think she'll fit ???

what year is the one you bought???? it should fit. from what i hear they didn't change the motor around much. someone correct me on that one if its wrong...

hey i dont know much but i am getting to know my 250X very well i have almost had it down to just the motor. when i get the cam and piston i will go farther. so anything i can help with feel free to ask.

Does anyone know any companies that make aftermarket heads ??? I looked at a stock one but they only sell the assembly, i just want the head ....

Go to ebay and check out GDH Racing. This guy sells all kinds of used parts for 250x, 300ex, and 400ex. He had a head off a 250x or 300ex on ebay last week.

If you deside you want to sell the bike email me, I too am basically rebuilding a 1991 250x.

i dont know ma. im glad my 250x hasnt had any problems like that. my oldone did and i sold it for 600. it was suppost to cost 600 to fix but the guy found a aluminum wleder and got it fixed for 12 bucks. but then he didnt know how to ride it and went down the road maxing 1st gear out and blew it up.haha. then he tried reselling me it for 500. i feel bad for people like that

Thats the one i wass going to buy and i had some questions for him but he never got back to me before the end of the auction....
And i dont think im going to be selling it anytime soon .... it has a 80$ paint job just on the frame .... ;) Almost new maier racing plastic, and the motor is at the shop i work at right now getting rebuilt .... i said the hell with it .... If i have it apart i am going to do it the right way instead of having it blow up .... and the cool thing is that all i have to pay for is parts becaues i can do all the work myself with my boss showing me what i need help on .... I'm 15 by the way ....
