setting up a fully adjustable shock

I have a 2001 rear raptor shock on my 300 and need to know how to set it up. I know for the preload that the higher the preload rings the lower the ride height. and the lower the higher the ride height is. i just dont know about rebound or compression so if someone could help me out i would appreciate it.
