Built 300ex gearing question

A buddy of mine has a 300ex that is setup for mx. He has a built motor and 18 in tires, however, he wants to change his gearing for the track. What gearing changes should be done to make him quicker on the track?

14/36 is a very common setup for 330ex's

I use 13/36 but I'm on 22" tires and do mostly XC. Only play on the MX track.

yea go 14/36 and i have messed with 14/35 but it doesnt do as well so go with 14/36

what do u guys do with the case saver when u put a 14 tooth front sprocket on?? i just got mine and theres no way its gonna fit without modding the case saver or something

I like my 15/38 for playing around, 13/38 for really tight tracks and 15/34 for really big tracks. :cool:

grind it down a little bit, then slide the sprocket, chain, and case saver on all at once.

14/36...best setup you can run for 18in tires..
