How long till Valve adjusting

How long should i wait till i get my valves adjusted. The dealer told me 10 hours. Some other dealer told me the 1st gas tank and someone else told me i didnt need to do it.. Whats the right answer? I have a YFZ 450 ATV

i would say after the 10 hours, and didnt the yamaha dealer tell ya when to bring it in?

My dealer told me to have them adjusted after the first 10 hours and then every year after that.

im a newb to atv's what exactly does it mean to get the valves adjusted.

It means to get the clearance between the valve and the cam, or the valve and the rocker arm correct, so it isn't too loose, making a lot of ticking, or too tight, causing a valve to stick open, burning it.

I thought that was my timing chain ticking in the 400 lol I really feel dumb now! I have been around 4 wheelers and tore into them since I was about 10 so I got 5 years on me and I'm still earnin' stuff. I guess I better pull the tank off and get'em set cause it sounds like one of them wind up toys kids have tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick!!!
