Looks good hopefully I will have one on mine in a few weeks. I ordered on off ebay but after the paypal wen't through I havn't herd from the guy. I am just hopeing that he wen't on vacation or something. Anyway how did the shock mount up did you have any problems also did you use spacers for the mounts. Could you get a couple close up pics of it.

hardkoratvmxr

i had trouble on the upper mount because we couldnt get the shock body up far enough because of the shock mounts and i am not running any spacers and i pot my rezzy throguh the upper and lower frame rail near the next to your blue chip and put it behind my reverse lever.

If it's not level when sitting on it you need to try to drop the ride height on that rear shock. You're front end is going to want to dive on you when you brake into corners. You want your frame close to level when sitting on it.

You really should've gotten the 4-1 offset rims. They'll make it handle better. Plus if you're running the Burgard +4's, those rims will prolly push it over the 50 inch limit. I am running the stock rims right now, and it's pushin the limit of 50 inches. Also, you might wanna look into some ITP 9x9 inch rims for the back. Otherwise, you'll basically have a front end that's wider than the rear.

Also, the rear section of the frame looks to be sitting kinda high. Sit on the quad, and have someone measure the distance from the ground to the frame just in front of the peg mounts. Then compare that to the distance from the ground to the frame just behind the lower, rearward mount for the arms. The rear of the frame should be about 1/4 to 1 inch lower than the front. It'll really make a difference on the handling.

There is no way your at 50 inches on +4 a-arms and stock rims! a stock 300ex is 43.5 + 4 + 1 equals 48.5 add about .5 for the a-arms sqwating when you sit on it. So the MOST you will be at is 49 inches. Its also hard to find a axle for a 300ex that is a full 49 - 50 inches. Most of them are around 46-48.

Well, I just got the Burgard +4 front end, and trust me, it's just a little more than 4 inches, by about an inch on each side(a set of +4 control arms isn't +4 altogether, it's +4 per side). I've only had time to get one side mounted up so far, but yes it came in at just about 5 inches wider. So they really add about 10 inches. Trust me, I wouldn't have posted that if I didn't know what I was talking about. And I don't know where you got the 43.5 for the front end? Cuz I spent hours measuring out everything on the front end and mine was about 39.5-40 inches from the outer edge of each rim.

And yes, the axle only gets the rear end to about 48 inches. But if you check around, ITP makes a 9x9 inch rear rim that has a 3x6 offset that will push the rearend out another 2 inches(50 inches overall width). Those are the rims I'll be running once I get a few more bucks saved up.

And as for lowering the ride height of the rear. Yes, you'll lose some ride height as far as clearance, but it shouldn't have much of a significant impact on the travel of the suspension. Once you do lower the ride height. Just make sure to take the time to adjust the rebound and compression adjusters.

I know what +4 means, I got 43.5 off Hondas website. 43.5 is the TOTAL width of the front end, not one side.

I never said that 43.5 was for one side. I said that I've only mananged to get one side of the control arms bolted up so far, and the TOTAL width was 44.5 inches without me on it. And the front end is not 43.5, it's 39.5. If the front end were a total of 43.5 inches, and you added a set of +4 arms, there's no way you could keep it under 50 inches. The rearend however is 43.5 stock.

If you know what +4 for control arms means, then why did you only add 4 inches to the total width?

Like I said, I know what I'm talking about on the +4 front end. And if he plans on MX'ing, he's gonna be too wide with 3-2 rims. my best guess, would be that he's gonna be between 51 and 52 inches if he keeps his ride height at or around 9-9.5 inches without the rider. And prolly a good 52 to 53 inches at the most with him on it. Even wider if he get's it down to the recommended 7.5 inches with the rider in position. My ride height is about 8.5 inches in the front and 8 inches in the rear with me on it, and I can tell it's gonna be too wide.

But, if you want more proof, I'll try to get it finished up today, and get pictures as soon as I can.

hardkoratvmxr I realy need you to take a picture of your rese for your raptor shock so I can see how you have it routed. I need a real closeup pic of just the rese area and frame. I have mine all on but the rese just won't fit right there isn't enough hose to get it to mount vertical. So O have it mounted sideways right now.

Thanks!

hey hardkoreatvmxer, how are you gonna rig up your reverse lever?

hardkoratvmxr
08-08-2005, 08:11 PM
i have my reverse cable in on the hotstart lever and it works fine it is hard to push with your thumb but i dont use reverse very much so i did it like that so i could have adjust on the fly and still use reverse when i needed it

and trevor i put a pic in your thread

got ne pics. of that? and i was the one at vanderburgh with the yellow 300EX that was second out of the gate in the main, then couldnt keep my pos. b/c i kept stallin it and wouldnt hit those doubles.lol.

hardkoratvmxr
08-15-2005, 08:07 PM
r you the one i passed in the main over the double doubles. If so just to let you know that was the first time i hit those and i wish i had your a-arms and shocks that worked so i could actually do the whoops better

kyleschonert
08-15-2005, 08:39 PM
yea. that was me. It was my first race on those a-arms and shocks and i wasnt used to them at all. BUt they did help in the whoops, but i was still bottoming out. Those whoops were harsh. I thought so many times about hitting those doubles b/c my front tires were hittin the landing ramps everytime, but i couldnt work up the balls to do it. NOw i wish i would have b/c i would have done alot better. You would have won if that number 10 wouldnt have been there, he was supposed to be in the expert class but they wouldnt let him switch. hes got his all bored out and stroked. he smoked my *** out of the holeshot and i was in second place and he was baout 15 ft. in front of me. But from your video you did a good job. And congrats on placing there. You headin there for the labor day weekend race? I'll prob. cya there if so.

how did that 01 rappy shock mount up
do you need to do ne fabacation to the mounts?

hardkoratvmxr
09-11-2005, 06:10 PM
it went on great and a little fabrication was needed to make it work. I had to grind a litte on the bottom side of the top mounts. it is also recommended as a cheap shock mod unlike the 400ex a-arms.
