They are just trying to help you manage your money better, why buy another quad when you have one already is the way they see it...

Why not use some of the money you were going to put into buying the new quad and spicen yours up a bit???

400ex is air cooled though lol...and i want a more highperformance machine like the 450. or the 250r.....I can still take most of my mods and through em on either machine, minus the exhaust and the suspension on the 450...my elkas would bolt rite up to a 250r:D

edit: i really think im loosin my mind................I should focus on getting my licsence and buying a truck so i can leave this place when ever i want lol..

Now your thinkin'! Get your priorities straight, get your licsence, get a set of wheels and prepare for life on your own. 'cause once you leave the nest, the world can get pretty harsh.;) Quit sulking about not having the newest quad, and be glad you have a quad at all.

That would end up costing almost just as much money. You would need the engine, all the material to make the engine mount right, and then you would not want to have the stock suspension.

trust me i saw it happen

but if u dont want to spend the $$ ona link go with the yfz.they have the yzf link on it already..

learn to ride the 400ex and quit looking for excuses on why your slow..:D

A vehicle would be money well spent. Or take your parents out to dinner one night. I mean they let your sorry *** hang around the house for free so it's the least you could do....

Sell your parents and buy the quad!

Go buy yourself some 450r decals and slap them on the side of your beast!

Always remember.. STICKERS ADD HORSEPOWER!!!!!!!!!

No, but really.. Give them some time.. and dont bug them. When they are in a good mood ask them nicely and if they start screaming at you just leave the room.. Make some more money and maybe they will let you. Im not sure bro.. Goodluck the 450r is a nice bike you will enjoy it if you get one:)

Whys everyone raggin' on the kid? If he has the money for a 450, why the hell not?

07-28-2005, 02:53 PM
if you have cash I think you only gotta be 16 to buy it...if so, you can buy it and ride it home since you don't have a vehicle yet. Your parents would sh1t a brick. Then proceed to tear up the front yard or somethin while they are still in awe

07-28-2005, 03:05 PM
He never said he had "All the money" his mom did say that his dad was not going to sign for another quad for him...

I dont now, i would think at his age he would be thinking more of what he wants in life and act accordingly... Nothing wrong with a 400, which he seems to ahve invested a little into already. Right now i doubt he could sell it for the amount he bought and put into it...

if you do end up selling your bike dont get a 250r all though they're fast it will cost you more money in the long run having to rebuild it once a year.

If the four wheeler is in your name, do it! but sounds like it's in your dad's name. Just stick it out and ride the 400. good things come to those who wait! there will be a better bike than the 450 in a couple years. Like it was said before, "be glad you have a bike at all!"

... it does suck being young though! I went through the samething with my dad about a Nova.... still pisses me off!:grr:

Why don't you grow up, and quit whining and complaining that you don't have the newest, hottest quad out there.

Like Rico said, learn to ride the 400. I'd bet my paycheck that you're not such a top-level pro that your ability is beyond a 400EX with elka suspension all around. If you haven't outgrown the machine you have, why do you need another? A faster motor isn't going to make you a better rider.

I know exactly what you mean. But you should be happy with what you have. SOme people will do anything for a quad..but they cant afford it:ermm:

Who the hell cares about his riding ability he can get a new quad even if he isn't super fast like me lol! Seriously I would first get your license and then get some wheels. Your parents probably just think that the four wheelers are a fad and you will lose interest once you get your license. Once you start making some money buy the 450r but you are going to need something to haul your quad around.

lol. they REALY screwed it up except for the fact that if you case a jump on most quads, especialy stock, ur bound to go over the bars.

dont waste your money on a 450. Chances are you can perform just as well on a 400 and then you wont have to start over with all the mods.

Alright, after 8 hours of being at work, i think im vented out now and relize the 400 is still a good machine....(after i took it for a RIP down my street while my mom was screamin at me") lol Im almost 17 and ridden the 400 for 2 good years and confident with it anywhere. I just see modding out the engine as a waste because its aircooled...I think i will stick it out with the 400 through the last couple years of highschool and buy a truck so i can take the 400 places. thx for some of replies guys, made me relize how lucky iam to own a quad i fully paid for with everything thats on it that i fully payed for.:)

I think that would be a little too much work because they would also have to switch the frame too, because the pros have to run motors and frames that have matching numbers.

mine i need to rebuild and i just rebuilt it in march... i can understand it is very tempting to buy a new quad, hell, i havent even finished my raptor and i am already looking at a new project. but... building an air cooled motor is not in my opinion, a waste of time Tom and I built his 400 into an 440 and i think he spent less than 500 and it runs with an piped yfz. personally, i think that would be a very viable option for now until you decide it is time for a new quad. just my 2 cents bro!:D

what is funny is, I am just as much of a dumba ss as anyone. I had like 7 grand in the bank 6 months ago (age16 now) and wanted a fourwheeler, my dad said no to a 450r. so I got a 400ex for 3000$. somehow now I end up with like 1000$ in my bank account. I am getting my licence soon and just laugh at myself that I could have a really nice car. but instead I spend it all on my fourwheeler. now how sad is that..... all well chick love the fourwheeler latley, and I have other cars that I can borrow for transportation.

SAme goes for 2 stroke, if your just riding you dont need to rebuild every year... Hell i have my 250 now for over a year and it doesnt need rebuilding but i did it anyway just for repainting other than that it didnt need it and i have an engine in there that they said would shake the frame apart in a few days :)
