hey guys,my 416 is shutting down when i gas it after idle.i have a 142 pilot and a 178 main.after the motor is warm, ill let it idle for a few seconds, then i blip the throttle and it dies.starts rite back up and when i blip the throttle it will die again.my idle is kinda low would i need to adjust it up a lilto cure this?my clip is in the stock position, should i drop it down 1?
my mods are sparks x-6,jets are above^,uni filter,no-lid.thanks for any help.

Try turning the idle up, if that doesn't help turn the fuel screw out about a half turn, if it is out more than 3 1/2 then you need a bigger pilot but my guess is the idle.

How does it run if you slowly increase the throttle? at the 1/4-1/2 throttle range?

If it cuts out bad when doing it slowly.. you need to richen your needle. If it runs fine you need to adjust your pilot/air screw.. and make sure you're accelerator pump is working properly.

A 178 main and a 416 kit, I've got a full exhaust, p&p head, k&n, and no lid and a 170 is a little rich for me. Are you sure that you don't need to go to a smaller jet, like a 165 or so? Not trying to be a but or anything just wondered if maybe you aren't running way rich.

If it runs great.. and just stalls out when gassing it quickly.. it's your pilot/air screw or worse case... your acellerator pump needle under the plastic side case slipped off of its compression arm. (happens occasionally).

Main jet has nearly 0 effect on anything below 50% throttle.

Follow Colby's advice.

got it so it doesnt stall after idle, adjusted the idle up a lil bit. now when i get on the gas pretty good trying to go through the gears,it seems like it is bogging,it isnt backfiring when i let off the throttle.i think im rich.what you guys think.i didnt do a plug check yet.bike a lil hot!!!lol.....

sounds like you are rich. do you hear like little popping when you are riding it come from the exhaust. if so that is a sign you are running it rich. i am running a 160 main, 40 pilot, clip all the way at the bottom and i am runing riich. so im going to bring it up a clip, and adjust the fule screw and see how close i acn get it.

It sounds like you might be rich on your main jet.I have a 416 with a web cam,pro curcuit pipe,no lid and a K&N and I am a tad rich with a 165 main.

Plug looks perfect to me. Hav eyou been opening it up to WOT though? Your main is really rich. It'll show i on the plug test if you open it up.
