the other day when i went to change my spark plug i started to take it out but it just wouldn't come out there was tension when i was turning it and i turned it several times and it never broke loose. So i was just wondering if anybody has had this problem before and what they did to get the plug out.

are u sure the socket was all the way down on the plug ? had that happen to me before trying to use a regular socket and it was slipping because it would not fit down all the way on the plug

what he said... this might be bad, might have to heli-coil it...

next time, before you put one in, put some anti-sieze on the threads (you can get it at an auto store)

sounds like it may be stripped. i would never heli-coil a head. you can just buy a used one pretty cheap off the site or ebay.

why do u think i shouldn't put in a heli-coil

just for amount of pressure it takes. you can find another very cheap. but hey its your quad.

heli-coil will work fine for a spark plug. Haven't had to use one in an atv.. but I've use many on automobile spark plugs w/o issue. Head is aluminum.. helicoil is steel.. so you're head is gonna strip before the helicoil does. You rethread the head.. so it's just as strong as before.

yea the 400ex spark plugs suck! i hate where they are at! I almost stripped mine, but barely got it out, so i used a impact to get it out! worked fine for me then!

where is the plug at on the kawasuki?

BTW it helps when your taking the plug out on the 400 if you, stand it up on the grab bar its easier to do it

very top of the engine. have to have basically all the front plastics off and the gas tank to reach it. i can't wait to do 10-15 plug chop runs when i rejet for a new exhaust

ouch

what were they thinking putting a plug there?

It creates a better combustion chamber. That is why they can lower grade gas on a higher compression engine. It just helps everything ignite better.

I took out my sparkplug tonight, and it had tension until it was 3-4 threads from being out. It was always like this. I Put antiseize on it to make sure it wouldn't stick. I'm going to get a new plug soon, Because I think the plug is why it is a little tight in the head.
