I love those cars too, I think they would make an awesome family car;) dream car, where to start, right now I need a new truck, looking for an 03 or so 3/4 ton dodge 4 door 4x4 diesel. Just to many cars to list from the 98-02 ram air t/a, to the 69 camaro tubbed out that is in my home town, a general replicia, an old t bucket, and an old bandit edition t/a. So many dreams so little money.

why would you want a car that is anywhere from from seven (i think they stoped in 98) to 12 years old. Also for a decent one with low miles the worth of it is so inflated because of the F+F craze

i dont like imports to much, but supras have potential. who cares about age anyways, muscle cars are over 30 years old but people still like them.

Hmm Because that car doesn't come out until next august and whats yer point the 03 04s are 390 HP supercharged and they look a lot better IMO. HP is not an issue with me a car can have 200 horse stock but when i get it it will be insane. I love to build..........

dude actually i think that they will be released sometime this fall, and imo that car is bad *** lookin...yes them 4.6 dohc can be made to scream my buddy has an 03 with 610 at the groud and 705 at the crank

he has a kennybell supercharger, reprogrammed computer, ram air intake, drag slicks, 4.10 gears, aftermarket clutch, flowmaster exhausts, x-pipes, bbk long tube headers, and so much more that car is still capable of more hp because he hasnt touched anything in side the motor yet...hes just done bolt on performance

Not a big fan of them, I think the price is alittle steep. Especially since they only put out 300 hp :ermm:

Supercharged they have to be more than that. A stock GT is 305 hp. I would say the Saleen would be closer to 400.

The article i read in road and track said its 0-60 times and quarter mile times are both about a tenth of a second better than the gt.

*EDIT- I stand corrected, yes it does have 400 hp.... Still not worth the price, they are going for 3-4 k over msrp at dealers as well.

Well hate to tell ya but ya think wrong. They will be released in fall of 06' You say your buddy has 705 at the crank but only 610 to the wheels? That HP loss makes no sense..kinda like you. Note: Keep in mind i do believe that it maybe pushing 705HP to the crank but you don't lose 95 HP to the wheels....

OMG Listen you normally lose about 35 or 40 HP to the wheels so why is he losing 95? My car loses 26 HP because of my whole upgraded Drivetrain.

oh yea and far as loosing 95 hp thru the drivetrain..yes its possible when you have that much hp comming out on a stock clutch....he dynoed before the race clutch...so now he might be putting more at the ground...clutch slippage will cause an inaccurate dyno reading

Iam actually curious of your mod list Sadistic... Iam not gonna say anything but you better have one hell of engine in that if your getting it to do 10's... cuz my dads classic car company had a twin turbo viper in the show room for awhile and dynoed at just around 1,200 rwhp..... and we did three runs with it and the lowest we got was 9.5 sec @ 150 mph. So you better have some heavy duty mods on that or Iam calling BS on this one!

... they are 400hp, but you corrected yourself. The also have more work done to the car - not just extra HP.

I would really like to take this new one for a spin - they did more to this model than they did to the previous Saleen's.

Anyone have an idea how much the GT500 will cost?

their isnt a certain amount of horsepower you lose threw the drivetrain. its usually about 15% of your horsepower

That's true it just kinda depends on what components are in the drivetrain, but anyway if it had 700 at the crank you would lose close to 100hp through the drivetrain. But like they said, it is a wasted argument, b/c very doubtful you two wil ever meet.

2nd, TC is talking about other ppls cars, but he is complaining about running nitrous whenever the other car has a supercharger:huh to top it all of a stock internal motor will need much boost to run 700hp, a lot more boost than stock parts can withstand. On top of that, why put down rice burners, what does it matter what it is if it puts up good et, I got a rice burner putting 10s out on all motor.

Sadistic, maybe your car runs 10 flats, the times and speeds about match, but if it is it must be stripped out and cranking out the hp. I ain't calling bs, just curious as to what it has done to it?

I was just reading all of the post, it's just my opinion that I don't think TC friends car is putting out 700hp at the crank with just bolt on mods. I think I read that he's just bolted on mods and didn't go into the motor yet. 700hp is alot of power for stock connecting rods and lifters and such. Besides he just said that his other buddies got a car with motor work and he's only up to 650hp. To me something just doens't jive. That's only my opinion but I could be wrong.

ok...i never said how mucht he other guy has...i said he FLATLINED a 650hp dyno...he took it to a bigger dyno and i was told...he had 720 at the ground....i never saw a dyno sheet or nothin so you can bs me on that idk...

but far as 610hp at the ground on my buddys car...yes you can get that much hp when he has a 6,000 supercharger on his car thats good for over a 50% power increase...im not bench racing for anybody...im just saying what i know...and that 96 cobra...its a nice car but that vortech supercharger aint addin near the hp the kennybell is....

2nd...im not complaining about a supercharger....when these cars come from the factory with a blower....

and just because i drive a truck dont mean i dont kno shyt and dont kno what im talking about...

oh and btw my buddy who has the cobra with 610 at the ground...his son had a 2003 mustang gt with a vortech supercharger, the aftercooler, flowmasters, 4.10 gears, x-pipes, bbk headers, its been reprogrammed, he had to get a race automatic tranny from b&m because his stock tranny blew out...it couldnt hold the hp from the supercharger and everything...it was factory automatic...

far as racing you...nobody here is gettin upset if they win or loose...hell the guy that flatlined a 650hp dyno lost to a 1995 lt1 camaro z28 thats running all motor....you know why...because the guy arround here had his street tires on the cobra and the camaro was using et streets so hooking became an issue....

far as me taking up for fords...i dont like em...i just happen to respect my buddys car because its fast....give me a stock chevy camaro z28 anyday of the week and ill be happy...

and you gotta spray why not race on all motor...scared one of these might beat you...

far as the motor not bein able to handle that much hp....the stock svt cobra dohc 4.6 motor can handle quite a bit...my buddy knows that his motor will go and eventually it will...and when it does he has the money bags to buy him a new block and have it built from the ground up...

I spray because around here its RUN WHAT YA BRUNG, SLicks or street tires is your choice though with my car street tires is no choice i have to run slicks. As far as the nitrous Its the same concept, run what ya brung ya know thats how we do....

I will agree with ya about the 4.6 DOHC 4 Valve motors. you can easily get 700 HP outta that block and not really worry too hard and like you said if it goes oh well i guess I'll just buy another one no biggie......

ill do that...i know they have their lineup of fords....the guy used to be a chevy guy and owned a bad *** 69 camaro z28 that was tubbed with a bad *** motor and 4.56 gears....but after he drove the cobra in stock form he had to get one so they are all for fords now...

so he got a cobra and done it up, hes got a ford lightning too thats fast as hell...and the son with the gt...something happened to the car and he lost the tune on it and it wouldnt run so they got it running and traded it in...and he got a 04 cobra...and 2 or 3 months ago he totaled the cobra in a bad accident...and a few days later they went and got him a brand new 06 mitsubishi eclipse....i think that wreck scared the hell out of the boy because he used to swear by his mustang....but now hes all about the saftey and such

there are alot of quick cars arround here...id just prefer my truck over a fast car because im a speed demon and an adrenaline junkie so i would proally plow a wall or something with a fast car...im happy with my truck...but once i get some more money in my pocket imma hook my truck up the way i want it...and thats LIFTED

yea that car dont look like a daily driver....must be a weekend machine...nothin wrong with that...if i lift my truck up im going to get me a secondary ride to keep milage off the truck and stuff so gas money wont bleed my pockets dry

i have the evo 8. its a very quik car. i sold my STI and got this. my STI had around 425 horse to the wheels.it was quik but i road race with my dad and i figured i better get a car that can handle the hairpins. my evo has stage 1 and stage 2. shes got around 400 to the motor. but im getting a g35 turbo next. hopfully for my 17th b-day i can get the 2006 ZO6. i wish.

they just put some nos on their car they dynoed at 800 hp, and said he ran 5's in the 1/8th....

but before the nos they were running in the low 8's high 7's

if the times and #'s for the nos are true or not i dont know thats what he said....next time i go out ill get pics of their lightening and their cobra

nah i work at a alignment/brakes/steering/suspension shop. it was hit in the rear wheel after it came off the racetrack and he was on his was home. it was the GT3 and it sounded sick. he was runnin straight pipe. i need to get a camera here so when we have cars that are nice i can post some pics of em.

i think it was in mischief destroy they had this dude with a mustang v6, with a vtec sticker, saying it had a rotary, turbo, etc from the factory, and it ran 10's with stock tires... what a moron

He could have swapped in a Wankel rotary motor from an RX-7. :p It's amazing how dumb some people are.

Yeah, but she isnt stock. Got about 10K inder the hood alone. Heck they produce 100 HP per liter stock and NA. So 407 is really not that much more.

M3's are awesome cars!

But compared to Mercedes performance line up. There is no comparison.

Mercedes makes some sick *** cars!!

would take an sl 600 over an m3 anyday. Then again there is a price difference.

But a sl 600 is one hell of a car!!! V12 BABY!

I agree. MB's have pushing 500hp from the factory. My M3 was never titled but driver by the owner of the local BMW dealer. I paid $41K for an 03 with 6K miles on it and had another $10K put in mods. At 407 HP there arent many NA cars out there with that weight to HP ratio. I laugh when a Z06 pulls up and thinks he had me. No contest.

I'll admit iam not a big fan of M3's. i feel like BMW's are BMW's and should stay luxury and not be race cars.

I have a 1967 BB 427/435 hp tri-power car. And believe me Chevy under rated this engine a lot when it was released in 67 due to insurance reason. rating it at 435 hp is very generous. My corvette club dynoed a buddy of mines tri-power and it came out at 465 HP.

And those Big block vettes when they start up and the whole engine compartment shacks, make a sound that no M3 or Mercedes could ever make.
Its just hard to imagine developing a car with that much power 38 years ago.
