how fast would a 250ex go it if had thease mods
HMF full suystem exhaust
125 main jet
air box lid removed
Big gun rev box (+ 1200 rpm's)
wat if it had a powerroll big bore kit on top of all that
would it beat a stock 300 (my 250 with all the mods except the rev box or bore kit runs about a bike length behind my freinds 300 when were toped out)
not fast enough
j/k i think in the low to mid 50s

your friend must not be able to ride very welll

Probablly 52-54. A bone stock 300ex runs 58, so no you wouldnt be able to beat a 300.

yes he can ride pretty good just our quads are pretty close in speed mine just has more torque
and before everyone tells me to save my money and buy a 400ex i already have a 400ex but i would like to mod the 250 i was just wandering how fast you guys thought it would go with those mods so please don;t give me any more of those stupid answers i was looking more for a mph answer i was thinking like high 50's -60

there is no way a stock 300 will do 58 and a 250 moded that much will do 54 i just have a pipe ,lid removed and rejeted and when i raced my freind with a 300 (just has handle bars, itp holeshot fronts, mudlites rear) we were dead even up till about 4th gear and then he pulled away a little bit adn when we finished (pretty long across a grassy feild) my front tires were like 2 feet behind his back
thats just wat i think from my expierences

Trust me, I raced many piped and jetted 250ex's when I just had my stock 300. They have a good bit of torque and were able to stay with me through the first 3 gears, and then I pulled away by about 4-5 quadlegnths in top end. Plus I dont know many people who keep their 300's stock, and even with a junky pipe it wakes them up A LOT, and they will blow 250's out of the water. Now, I am not dissing 250ex's. I love those quads, they are so much fun to ride wheelies on, but I know for a fact that they will not beat a 300ex.
putting pipes and filyers doesnt really make the top speed higher, it just gets you there quicker

the people that were ridin those 250's must hacve sucked if you beat them buy 4 0r 5 bike lengths
me and my freind were both toped out and we were really close and theres no arguein "he must have been a bad rider" if we were both toped out and i was only a bike length and a couple feet behind
and i still had like half a throttle left (rev limiter kicks in at like half-3/4)

LOL!!!!
Maybe it would if you did some gearing changes, but then you would have less acceleration.

ok raptor the 400ex does not do 56mph stock im srry to disapoint you but it doesn't and i don't really care if you guys beleavie me cuz not every engine is the same from the dealer but i toped my 05 400ex out at 69mph on a highway but i could maybe get 70 if i took my airbox lid off

First of all everyone on this site knows that a bone stock ex will do anywhere from 65-68 stock most will agree on 67. The 05s on the other hand are geared lower and will top out lower than that.

well im srry that is wat the speedometer said in the camaro that clocked me

When my stock ex was broken in, I did 71, but now I haven't reached top speed for a while, cause I got that 440 kit on it, so I never really touch 5th gear.

There is no way in the world it goes only 56. Thats only 6 miles per hour faster than my 250! When I ever drag race my dad or brothers 400,:o in a corfield, where you can top out all you want, they pull away from me like it's nothing and keep going! They aren't '05 models though so I don't know how much less top speed they have.

my 250 with just an e-series goes 52-55, clocked with a GPS on the bike... and i have beaten a 300ex with the same exhaust (e-series)...

A pipe will not raise the top speed.

Alright jagoffs, calm down. So a 400 wont do 75. With a pipe and a slight gearing change it will. I dont know much at all about 400's because I hate them. With a stock motor they are extremely underpowered, and they sit so extremely weird. I was just basing it on my 330. I went down the road next to my buddies dad's truck and topped out I was doing 75 or 76 he said. Now, I can outrun a piped 400 pretty easily, so thats why I said somewhere between 70 and 75.

ok i know you guys are trying to make yourself fell better that there are quads out there that are twice as fast as yours but ser. there is no way in hell that a 250ex is gonna beat a 300ex unless you put a big bore kit in the 250 and a good pipe and a whole ****load of money into it which would be pointless because they are so slow and dont even have a clutch . ser. just drop it there aint no way in hell you guys with your piped 250ex's are gonna beat or even keep up with a 300 or a 400

I agree and I have a 250. How would a 250 with a pipe, beat a 300 with a pipe? :huh

anyone who knows atv's will tell you there are 3 ways to make a 250ex have a higher top speed.
1) Upgrade CDI (higher rev limit)
2) Taller gearing (bigger front/smaller rear sprocket)
3) Larger diameter rear tires.
you can put a big bore kit, cam, pipe, suspension, nitrous, rocket fuel in the dang things. they will still have the same top end speed unless you remove/bypass/modify the rev-limiter somehow (taller gearing & bigger tires would be considered a bypass).
Other mods will only help you get to the top speed faster.. which is much more important anyway.
are you sure you can change the gearing on the 250ex, they are shaft driven so unless some one makes differintial gears for that thing i dont see how you can change it

only way to change gearing on a 250ex is bigger tires. a new cdi wont do a hole lot unless you got a pipe and filter mixed in with it also. a bore kit would help 2. i cant see a 250ex ever breaking 55 mph unless you have extreme motor work on it.

finally its about time other people who actually know what there talking about backed us up and shut these kids who's 250ex's outrun 300's and 400's up. so our point is , NO WAY IN HELL A 250EX IS GONNA BEAT A 400ex or a 300EX for that matter .

Ok he is talking about his 250ex not his 400ex

You're correct. I was thinking along the lines of a typical quad. Been on vacation at 13,000ft for a week and a half.. so my brain isn't back to full speed yet, lol.
So he's got option 1 and option 3.

I was talking more on the rev limiter aspect of the CDI not the timing advances. But you're probably right.. the 250ex is gonna have a fairly hard time pushing its top end very much past what it is now in it's stock form, even without a rev limiter. On asphault or gravel it could.. but sand kills the little power a 250ex has to start with. Dirt/woods, you're usually turning more than going straight so a higher top end should be non-issue.
All in all ... a 250ex is what it is.. a low maintenance, easy to use, entry level quad. Great for what it is.. but it will never be a racer. (unless you've got a touch of atv'rs insanity. Heck, I modded my 300ex to hell and back.. lol. So, I can't really talk.. lol.)
