well guys my 400ex just doesnt like water and mud. LOL. lets just say i got into some big trouble on the trail. and the only way to get out of it was full throttle and hope to get out. I was fender deep in muddy water. well lets just say i got out. i have not one but two air filters and outer wears on my quad. the stock replacment and a airbox lid. well i was so deep that no matter what type of filters i had on the crap was going though. well the engine sucked up lots of water and mud. i pulled her apart and cleaned her up. she still runs. but not to healthy. Being a honda tech. i know what i gots to do. rebuild her and make her better. and lesson leard NO MORE MUD unless its only 3-4 inchs deep other then that im finding another way around. LOL. so 440 with hotcams stage 2 cam. new rockers. and kibblewhite valve train. and more carb mods. going to rifle port the throat of the carb and the intake ports. that should help her breath better.
