My friend has a timberwolf 250, and there is a hose comming out of the very bottom of the carb. I am by no means an expert on carbs, and I don't have a cluse as to what would be causing this. Does anyone know whats wrong with it?

The leak is constant, so I have no idea what is causeing it. It starts up and drives fine, the carb is just leaking gas. He shut off the gas, and it stopped leaking.

make sure the drain bolt is tight.

This is classically a worn needle and seat assembly if the drain screw is closed.

The carb float rises with incomming tank fuel, when the bowl is filled the float arm nudges the needle into the seat shut-off valve and stops the fuel flow. When the rubber tipped needle is worn or has dirt particles on it , it will leak fuel past the seat. Like a flooding toilet float valve. It constantly flows out of the bowl overflow hose or bottom of carb.

Changing it out is cheap the needle/seat should be around ten bucks. Knowing how to do it with limited skills is another matter. Dealer should charge an hour shop rate plus parts. not to exceed $80.

also check to make sure your float bowl isnt stuck.

Tap the carb with a hammer a couple times...not really hard..if it stops, that means your floats we're stuck...if it doesn't stop, take it apart, blow air throw everything, and reassemble. If it still doesn't stop,..then Idk..

NEEDLE AND SEAT COULD BE WORE BUT MOST LIKELY THE FLOAT IS STICKING FROM GUMMING UP. IF IT SITS FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME EVEN 2-4 WEEKS, THIS CAN HAPPEN. REMOVE THE CARB BUY A .99 CAN OF CARB CLEAN. TAKE THE BOWL OFF AND PRETTY MUCH SOAK EVERYTHING, MAKING SURE TO SPRAY OUT THE MAIN AND PILOT JET AND FLOAT VALVE AREA. AT THE END OF THE FLOAT BRACKET YOU'LL NOTICE A LITTLE BRASS PENDULUMN THAT IS UPSIDE DOWN. INSPECT IT FOR WEAR. IF THIS IS WORE TOO MUCH IT CAUSES FUEL TO FLOW BY EVEN THO THE FLOAT IS CLOSING THE VALVE. MORE THAN LIKELY IT'S GUMMED UP

Do I need to take the carb off to use the carb cleaner, or can I just un hook the boot going to the airbox and spray it in, or are the instructions all on the can of carb cleaner?

Youll want to disassemble and soak yours
