I race mx, and am wondering what rate of shocks i should get. What are the benefits of both? is it true that dual rates won't bottom as easily, or do tripple rates help the bottoming?

If you Race MX you want Triple Rate. I think the Dual Rate are more for XC and stuff like that. Just about all of the MX Guys have Triple Rates. You also want to have Zero Preload for MX so get Elka`s or PEP ZPS Shocks. I think Axis has some kind of Shock that Sags also. Oh and TCS.

I would go with the triple rates since you are racing MX.

Well if you are considering getting triple rate works vs. elka duel rates. The duel rates are probably better than the works.

i would nessecaryly say that nausty, have you ever try out work shocks.... the only diff between works and elkas are the bigger shaft, ssd and the price, other words works shocks are the best bang for the buck THAT is if they are valved right..

So 400exbro, you are saying the materials used in elka shocks is the same as works? I don't think so. I also believe that elka uses the shim stack style of valving unlike works. This is the same type of valving that axis uses.

Elka's are a superior product any way you put it. Yes works are cheaper but so is their quality and performance. I am not saying works suck or anything of the sort but Elka has them beat in every category besides price.

Please lets not start the works vs. elka battle.

Back to the actual topic, triple rates are better because there will be less bottoming with triple rate and you will soak up the little stuff better while still being stiff enough for jumping.

I hope that made sense.

Yes that is ture NJ, i won't say any more because i don't want to bring up that topic again...
*but i know elka is way more supreoir than work with out a doubt*
also triple rates are way better than dual for mx and trail... hands down.

not in all catagories......take the WORKS PRO-SERIES Piggy Backs......now you cant tell me that them arent good shocks if not better than Elkas Triple Rates W/rezzys....just my $0.02 but yeah

And they cost more than the elkas. So yes the Elkas are better. I also never said works weren't good shocks. they are good but there are better.
