head set for playstation2???

I bought a head set so I could chat when im playing mx vs atv and I cant hear or get anything out of the head set.. Is there a trick to getting it to work?? It is brand new.. I could see where other looked like they were talking but I couldnt get mine to do anything.. I have it plugged into the usb port in the front of the ps2 and help would be great thanks

yea a chat......no voice chat tho......the chat is a screen of a keyboard.....witm a window...u type wit ur controller...theres no voice chat
