don't get one until you need a higher rev limit

I got a rev limiter from TC Racing for my 400ex and I have been very happy with it. If the quad is bone stock its not worth it, but if you even have apipe and jet kit you will be able to tell the difference. The only downside to it is that it makes your motor burn oil. Nothing that is visible.

Please enlighten us on how a rev box makes you burn oil?

People, stay away from 100.00 rev boxes. They do more damage than good. Buy a dyna or a vortex if you want more revs.

If you do not have motor mods on your machine then the rev box is useless for you. It is only good if you have alot of motor mods

I dont know why it makes it burn oil. Ive had two now and after aweekend ride or xc race I am about a half quart low. A friend of mine has had the same experience.

with a rev box on a 450r you cant get 1000or 1500more rpms because of the throttle positioning sensor the sensor will only allow the engine to rev up to 400 hundred more rpms so im saying to you dont waste your money unless you have some serious mods

on the 450r, i would never run one of those $100 boxes. on the 400ex, the TC and the GT Thunder boxes get good ratings. i have had both the mild and aggressive curve boxes from Laz and they both work great.

If I had a 450r I wouldn't even worry with the Dyna CDI, CRF ignition. :macho

i have 13:1 piston, carbon pro pipe, hrc cam & i am about to get the head ported. i don't want to do the crf ign. it brings down torque numbers. my bike has 36.9 lbs of torque, and i love that. just want to know if anyone is running one that made a big differance?

I have similar mods to yours and I bought the 450R with one of the cheapo ignitions(Procom). I like the overrev of the Procom but the stock ignition feels much more peppy on the top end. I just wish the stock one had about 1000 more RPM because I'm always bouncing off of the limiter. :(

Hey chad502ex, is the Dyna a worthy invest in a piped, cammed motor or is the only worth it on truly built motors? I've been looking at the Dyna and Vortex and wonder if it's worth the cheddar, I like the idea of different curves at the push of a button but I wonder if it's justifiable without a lot of motor work.

i wouldn't get a rev box until you are hitting the rev limiter on the stock one when racing. if you are hitting it, it is worth it to me. i was nailing the stock dinger when dragging in the the first 3 gears.

Hey Smoker. I like the Dyna alot better than my old Vortex. Within a month, or less, I'll get some dyno plots for everyone compared to stock. How's that sound for ya?

But I have to tell you, that this ignition box it feels alot more hit than the vortex ever had. It should be more noticable on stock setup than a full built stroker. Buy it you won't regret it.
