I work at my local polaris dealership as a mechanic and I also help with sales.

The owner of the dealership was talking to me and said he just got a notice from polaris today that Polaris and KTM will be joining forces for 2 years to see how the two companys merge after the 2 years period KTM either will still be KTM or will be part of Polaris

KTM's company is less then 1/3 as big as polaris. So they were thinking about me going for my schooling to do KTM motors ect.. Perhaps could we just finnally see a KTM quad with a predator type chasisse?

Also all the KTM's will go under the polaris name

that will be sweet but i thought the gas gas had a ktm motor in it but i cant wait my dad wants to sell his sportsman500 and get a pred maybe they will have a pred 450

So is this what this Outlaw thing is about? Or will this merge be later down the road?

I also work at a polaris dealer, we got the notice too, polaris has bought 28% of KTM, roughly 80 million....it will be exciting to see what comes out of this deal.

Whoa!
First I've heard about the Outlaw! Anyone know anymore about it, or do I have to wait 2 days?!!:(

I'm planning on getting a new bike in a couple of months; and was lokkin at YFZ450, and the mysterious Suzuki Z450. But I'd buy a Polaris! Is it definantly a sports quad?

I would say just wait for the Z450. If what QUAD magazine is saying is correct, there will be nothing that can compare to it.

yeah, it has to come with aftermarket suspension if gusts says its better than any other he's ridden...should be sick

this outlaw thing sounds cool,i hope its a new chassis, i never liked the pred frame or plastic. maybe KTM looked at the walsh KTM520's and got ideas? that would be insane

I personnaly think the z-450 will be a joke, it isnt practicle for even the back yard rider with its exstremely wide stance and for doug gust to race on stock shocks they have to be ohlins or some sort of LT suspension witch also jacks the price up with the cost of engineering a new EFI system. so it coule be yours for only $9,000

if KTM were to make a quad it would make sense for them to go with a bigger high dollar company to back there resources. Because the engineering for KTM would be all new and would be very very expensive and maybe turning there quads into a gasgas ware its soo expensive and only a few people have them. The dealer show is at the end of this month (I think) and we will see what comes out from the two companys

I have been waiting for a KTM quad, but I wish it was just a KTM quad. I trust them a lot more than I do polaris. I would like to see them just totally design a quad, and hopefully with the 525 motor. Hopefully it will turn out for the best, I guess i shouldn't get dicouraged yet.

The local polarise dealer has had ktm for about 5 mounths now.

from what i have seen/heard of the new outlaw it will be a 450 pred type motor, full independent suspension, race inspired handling and performance. It looks sick, kind like the pred. there is some info on it in the newest dirtwheels with a pic.

Will it actually be a manual? Since Polaris is famous for putting automatics in there sport quads.

07-20-2005, 04:57 PM
man if polaris puts an automatic on the outlaw im gunna be pissed, especialy if it has the ktm motor, even if it doesnt have the auto im sure polaris will find some way to screw it up:rolleyes:

Lol. I have a Polaris Trailboss. Well, my parents bought it, so thankfully it isnt mine. I know what you mean about them screwing it up. What a POS. For some strange reason, it eats up sprockets faster than my 400ex does. WTH???? But then again it does get ridden like my 400ex so that may have something to do with it. :ermm:

If it is a spot quad I wonder how the IRS would work on it. I wouldn't want a sport or high performance quad with IRS, it would make it too hevy, and make it not handle as good I would think.

We sell alot of people quads not looking for the high end performance of hitting a 100ft jump but for practicality like the scrambler 500 that has a sportyer ride and motor but with 4 wheel drive. when i think polaris i think 800EFI with grip warmers and can go through anything. The predator is not a bad quad by any means i dont know how the independent rear suspension will turn out though

I'm hearin that it might be a rebuild from the ground up scrambler.
Whatever. but I agree, they'll find a way to screw it up!:o
