View Full Version : cooling fan on radiator (help)

i was changing my spark plug and broke the connector on the i think it is the temp sensor its on the front of the motor my question is can i hook a switch up so i can turn the fan on and off as i am riding...........is anyone else running it like this

The TT CRF ign. that uses the fan runs like this, off a switch.

Yes, reason being is that you can control when you think the bikes needs it, and it can stay on for however long you want it to..When the thermostat pops on a stock fan, its already too late the bike is hot.

If your wide open all the time then its no problem..If you cruise, then the bike WILL blow its coolant.

what do you mean blow its coolant do you mean out the overflow or just burns it up...thanks for all the info fellas i think im gonna just hook a switch up maybe even to a battery so it can run it when its not running

why would you need another battery i used to ride with a guy who would just leave the key on for a few minutes as it cools and his battery never died. he was also riding a preditor.

You can run the fan while the 450R isnt on, no battery..Thats why you would need an aux. batt if you wanted to run the fan while the bike was stopped, which I dont really see as a necessity.

If the water pump isnt pumping the fan is doing nothing for the engine. It may cool the water in the rad but if that water never reachs the engine whats the point.

water pump is good i just broke the sensor on the front of the motor i think its the temp sensor

finally put my switch on for the fan here is a pic of it dont know where im gonna mount it yet
