I was cleaning my quad up from the race this past weekend and noticed that my frame is almost cracked in half on the main frame by the rear shock mount. This quad is only three months old and has about 8-10 races on it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any problems like this?

What you doing breaking that thing ? Soon enough you will be seeing mine out there!! I did see a post of one broke in a few places but I believe it was just the sub frame. Maybe time for a new one? Maybe some positive reinforcement if you don't have a wielder bring it over we can fix it up for you. At least to get you going for a bit.

The first 2 pics are 2 different breaks on the same frame rail. Riding MX with an un-gussetted frame isn't a smart idea, still waiting on my new frame to get here. Oh yeah, I'd also get a JB 6 point subframe too.

What happened with that? Did you case a jump? also what shock are you running? and are you bottoming out allot just curious.

Axis all around. No bottoming out. The frame had been cracked for a while obviously (it had started rusting). Landed a jump smooth and I guess it finally gave away. Keep in mind I've had this quad for around a year and a half or two years and I've been riding without a gusset kit. I guess what happened is the frame had gotten cracked/broken in a crash (I've had a lot of those, heh) and I never saw it because of those frame guards.

I can't really remember anything that would have done it but obviously something did? Like I said its only about 3 and a half months old. I just took it over to a local mechanics shop who is a yamaha mechanic. He's gonna call yamaha and see about getting the frame replaced. If not i'll just get it welded but i'd really rather not do that to a new frame. I hope to see you at the races too some time.

Thanks for the pics. That is pretty close to where mine cracked. Do you get that frame replaced? I'll let you guys know how i do with mine.

I'm junking the frame in the picture, I have already bought a new frame and sent that to Legacy ATV for the Viper gusset kit, should have done that when they first built my YFZ.

I'll see what I can do about some pics. Right now I don't have a digital camera that works. The crack is not on the rear shock mount but to the right of the mount where the main frame connects to the sub-frame.

that is the pits guys. My pal Mike A cracked his, but he is overjumping some big*** Jumps out west here. Best of luck, and Legacy supports me as a rider, they do great work, good choice for repairs.

John's always treated me right, from the day I got my 400ex worked on by them to building my YFZ practically from the ground up in their shop, can't say anyone could treat me any finer.. and the best part is they're only an hour and a half away.
