alright, i know that in order to build a 440, you have to actually bore the cylinder to fit a larger sleeve. but once the 440 wears our, is it a 440 for life or is there a company that makes a sleeve to sleeve it back down to a 400?

i dont think there is. you can find used 400ex cylinders very cheap if you wanted to bring it back down.

Wiseco has a 440 sleeve that is 426 ready. If you use that one then you atleast have two bores on it you can do.

almost all 440's have 89mm piston's which is really like a 435 and they sell 89.5mm piston which is a true 440. So if it wear's out which it probley wont you can bore it .5mm's out and buy a real 440 piston.

Comanies like LA Sleeve should make a 400 sleeve to put it back to stock..I have talked to them about making a custom sleeve for another bike, kinda high $$$$. Definately cheaper to buy a cylinder of Ebay, or something like that..
