ALright guys... heres the deal. I picked up this carb off ebay, and the carb was all i got. no instructions or anything... but thats how ebay goes. no wich is ur air screw and wich is ur idle screw? is the air the lil gold one by the air boot, or is it the big black one on the side? i put the carb on and it seems to run great with the jetting... 48/178. but it seems to be a bit doggy on bottom, so i wanna find the air screw so i can get the bottom better.

The little gold screw is the air screw.

If it is bogging, unscrew it 1/4 turns at a time and check it again until it works.

The needle may be an issue in this case too. Make sure it is not bent.

yes the black one is the idle screw, if it doesnt idle you might have to cut a little of the spring.

the 38mm is a great carb, i have the same one on a powervalve and love it..

actually i run the idle screw almost all the way out.

i dont think a quad should idle, makes it easier to engine brake in the tite trails an stuff.

If you have the DGH needle on the middle notch, I like those carbs with a 42 pilot for the summer. Save the 48 for the winter with a 185 main.

I run a 50 pilot with a 230 main, and a J needle. I have an 86 cylinder, ported with the compression bumped up on the head. And i'm runnin a 40mm pwk carb. When i'm sitting there idling, it blows blue smoke, should I turn the idle screw in and make her idle faster? My air screw is 2 and a half turns out. a lil help? Sorry for crashin a post, but i hate it when people make new ones when the same topic is already goin. Thanks.

I have a 180 main,45 pilot and the clip in the 2nd position from the top on a DGH. I have a little bog off idle so I think I am changing my pilot this weekend.
