**********THANKS*************

Tremont, PA - 6 Hours of ATV America Series began its 2005 journey around the USA back in February at Caddo Point in Greenville, TX, and after visiting Georgia, Missouri, and Wisconsin, the series headed to the Pennsylvania Mountains. Unlike the prior four races, the race at Rausch Creek MX Park won’t start till 5PM, so it will be well past dark once the race is over, which will make headlights a necessity.

With the 12 Hours of ATV America also scheduled to be held at Rausch Creek in October, the 6 Hour event at night would provide the perfect testing ground to prepare teams the 12 hour event.

The turnout for the event was only slight up from last year with 46 team entries compared to 42 teams last year, but surprisingly the opening round in Texas remained the largest turnout for any 6 Hour Event with 49 entries.

The track layout was also very similar to last year’s event with a mixture of motocross and woods with the track just over 5 miles in length, which is the normal length for a 6 hour event

Dust was not going to be an issue for sure because the area received heavy rain overnight and past couple days from showers spawned from the remnants of Hurricane Dennis which had the ground saturated with water and more rain forecasted throughout the day.

Teams began arriving on Friday to find the best pit spots and get a chance to walk the track before the race on Saturday.

The pits were split into three sections with around 15 teams per section.

ATVriders.com had two teams representing us at the event this year with Jason Hughes, Mark Carman, and Dan Ketterer competing in the the 30+ Class and Ralph Johnson, Bruce Wyland, and Steven Straka signing up for the A Class.

Over the past two weeks, I have been scrambling to get graphic kits produced for the teams, and www.goforitgraphics.com got the call. The kits arrived just two days before the event, and they went on easy and looked awesome once installed.

Currently, ATVriders.com doesn't have its own custom layout kit available, but it is in development and should be available within a few weeks. The awesome thing is that if you have a different theme in mind than what we come up with as the official layout, you can still get the ATVriders.com logo on any of their already existing kits in any color combination that you like for a special ATVriders.com discounted price below the normal $99.00, which is already a very fair price for a graphics kit.

All the details haven’t been worked out yet, but an announcement will made shortly on the discounted pricing and ordering details.

Here is an example of the YFZ450 Kit that the 30+ team installed for the race

The YFZ kit also comes with a nose piece and they can include your number plate in any color number and background combination with several different border selections available as well.

Since the kit was installed on Jason’s YFZ450, I also included his company name, Powerline ATV, in the number plate.

Ralph Johnson's TRX450R Kit worked perfectly to blend his red tank with his black plastic, which is the great thing about being able to select your own color combination.

My EXriders.com/C&D Racing teammates (Ron Dernoski & Chad Kirby) from last year formed themselves a new team this year with the addition of Randy Brandt and won 30+ Class at the 6 Hour event in Georgia, and they were back again this year looking for a repeat win under the name RAB Offroad/C&D Racing.

Ron applied the final detail (ATVriders.com stickers) to his Cannondale before the start of the race.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be racing the event this year even though I was invited by several teams to join them because I am still banged up from my dismount at the Wisp :(, but if everything goes as planned, I will be racing the 12 Hours of ATV America.

The biggest surprise was that Chris Borich would be competing with John Natalie Jr for Team Honda. After only three weeks of recovery from his wreck at the Wisp, Borich rode several hours the prior week and felt fine, so he wasn't going to give up the opportunity to race with Natalie.

Matt Smiley has teamed up with Borich since the first 6 and 12 Hour events, but with factory involvement, this winning combination was split up with Chris going to Honda and Matt signing with Polaris, which is just awesome when you think about it.

This year Matt teamed up with Chris Jenks for the 6 Hour event and Bryan Baker will be joining the pair for the 12 Hour event this fall aboard the Polaris Predator.

With everyone signed up and less than two hours till the start of the race, heavy rain moved in over the track and it poured for atleast 1/2 hour.

With the risk of thunderstorms, John Pellan announced that if it at anytime during the race, it started to lightning, the race would be stopped. If it was stopped before the 3 Hours the racing would begin after the storm moved out, but if it was past the 3 Hour point, the race would be over at that point and the current positions would be considered the final results.

The Ambulance crew decided they wanted to park closier to the track, but found out quickly that would be next to impossible as they found themselves stuck in the mud.

One thing about Rausch Creek is there is plenty of big equipment onsite, so there were no worries about finding someone to pull you out of the mud.

Rausch Creek Park Manager, Mike McDonald, was kept busy throughout the day keeping everything running smoothly.

With the race about to begin, Mike Penland brought me over my ride for the day. One of the meanest utilities that I have ever rode with some unbelievable power that I could have closed my eyes and believed that I was on a highly modified 450R.

Several hours into the race, all the quads were completely covered in mud and many teams were beginning to experience engine problems.

I also started to have a difficult time figuring out which team was which because one 450R started to look like the other, and only little details set them apart, so the remainder of the coverage is my best shot at figuring out who was who during the race and with positions constantly changing every lap keeping track of the riders was almost next to impossible.
