My brother has some left over heat wrap from his exhaust on his car. Would this benefit me at all to use it on my stock 400ex header?

in theory, heat wrap would hold more heat into the header. this would increase the temperature of the gases inside and make them move at greater speeds. so, it woudln't hurt. this is supposed to give better performance. will it be noticable?? probably not. i do get my headers thermal coated. it does keep the heat inside better. around the engine it is cooler and you won't get burned as bad. however, the heat tape may not look all that great. the decision is up to you.

do you cross alot of water? sometimes the wrap can hold in water and rot out exhausts. They do sell a spray on protector for the wrap now that you can get from jegs or summit.

dont do it, heat wrap on dirt bikes ad 4 wheeler doesnt benifit them at all, the engines are too small and some other reasons i cant remember, all they do is collect dirt and make your bike heavier and uglier, i read about it a couple times in mxa and they always discorraged it
