Old skool 100 % right here never owned a 4 stroke, never will.
2 STROKES FOR LIFE!

I've also never owned a 4-stroke quad. Always been on a mighty R. I have Thrown my leg over my buddies YFZ many times and the overall feel of the bike really doesn't do much for me. I was just ripping up some hills(not real huge) and through some trails and I just flat out prefer my 250

The 250R vs. 450R treads are a waste of time and always will be. Its nothing more then personal opinion and everyone has one. The only people that should really be posting in these topics are the people that are familiar with(meaning plenty of seat time) on both bikes. You can't just get on a 250R 1 maybe 2 time and be able to say its no good or in no way better then another. It take plenty of seat time to get use to and familiar with its caracteristics(sp). Like someone else said ,a majority of the people on the site are too young to know about the R's fortunatly when I was there age the only 4-strokes were the 300ex,LT230,and 4x4's the rest were the Banshee,250R's and LT250 and yes even the tecate's were still around and there were no 4-stoke dirtbikes other then the on/off road jobs. We are now in the era of the 4-stoke performance quad and dirtbike, doesn't mean we all have to go jumping on one but we do have to realize most of the people on here are from this era. I don't even know what I am trying to say anymore,I type so slow I forgot. Basically this is a usless on going argument and if you arn't familiar with both then you should leave it alone and If you need to know witch is better ride both and draw your own conclusion

Peace out asa lama lakum

This is funny.

One is better for some things and one is better for others. That's why I own both. :p Well my 250R is a 3-wheeler. :macho

I'm only 19 and i have ridden both a bad *** 250R (88 Honda 250r
295cc, 39mm Air Stryker, Paul Turner Race pipe, Fat Boy silencer, V-Force Reeds, Cool Head, Hi-Comp Dome, and Drinks 114 octane) and a bad *** 450R (yoshi full race exhaust, pro design pro flow, bunch o other stuff i can't remember) and i have to say that the 250 just blew me away. I hate ridin that 450 when i can ride the 250. I know people are always sayin crap like this but probably 90 percent of you haven't even sat on a 250r let alone ridden one. I'm one of the lucky few of us who have the joy of owning one of the greatest quads even made.

I have had lots of seat time on a badas* 250r, and bought a 450r a few months ago and can allready tell i like the 450 better for the type of racing that i do.
Before everyone jumps all over me, I would like to say that the 250r is a good quad, but I personally like the 450 better. But thats just one persons opinion.
I find it funny that I had like 14 grand in my 250r and I like a completely stock 450r better. Thats why I am selling my 250. If anyones interested

We all love our 250r's, but......

When ever I go riding, one of the guys I ride with (who rides a fast @zz 330r) always says to other guys (about my 450r), "you've gotta ride this bike," I think that says alot about the 450r.

Don't we all "RIDE RED" ???????????????????????

Ive read of about 20 ppl that sold their tricked out 250R's for a 450R and weren't as happy w/ it, funny part of that....now some "really like it"... and now the 250R wont hold a flame to it:rolleyes:

If I sold my $20,000 R for a POS... I wouldn't want to admit to it either, who likes to claim they sold the goods and bought a POS:confused:

Im sure its a great quad. just ugly as hell IMO

to each HER own ...lol;)

that is a great point by the way- nobody is gunna sell an R and buy a 450 and say they would want their 250 back. It is too hard to find a nice 250 and you never know whos done what to it, so its hard to buy another good one. and the fact that with the 450s you'll never get what you put into them. so of course even if people did like the 250 better they wouldnt say so.

after 6436643969864377 threads like these anyway.....:D

The TRX250R is almost 20 yrs old, the fact it still gets compared to EVERYTHING should tell you what a good quad they are/can be

Technology has gone leaps and bounds compared to 20 yrs ago

CC for CC, the the 2 stroke motor would wax, but they are going to be a thing of the past(only untill I cant find parts for me ;) )

Todays 4strokes are decent, and eventually they will all be wicked. Expect the cost's to go up even more as mods wont be as cheap as a 2stroke

I like both, I just own mostly 2 strokes, and my R is my all time fav quad:D :macho

I'd love to have either 450, but Im in no rush!

To each their own!!

yah, there are a lot of good quads out there and not one is a hands down winner... there are things on other quads the 250r doesnt have or isnt as good as... i loved that screaming powerband on my banshee... back when i had my banshee and it would break down or id get tired, i'd would ride my buddies 400ex and liked how effortless it was to ride that thing, and its the same way with the raptors... you can just go and they are so easy to ride in the dunes... i wouldnt mind having either of the 450s either, although i like the yfz better.. if i had too much money i'd go ahead and buy one of each, but if i had to chose just 1 i'd keep my R cuz its jsut great all around.. im probably going to buy another bike this dune season just so i can take people with me, and its either gunna be a raptor or yfz450... probably the raptor cuz it'd be best for my girl and other riders with little/no experience...
