When i went ridin the other day we couldnt get my friends dirtbike to start after it stalled out in the trails. We had to push start it several times before it would fire up. And i was wishing i had a tow strap with me but i didnt, so what kind of tow strap would be good to have for pullin a bike, or havin someone pull me out of a mud hole? like, wut weight tension for the strap?

And i cant think of anywhere that i could put it on my 400, so i might get a camelback, so i can stuff a spark plug in their too incase i need to change one out. But i think i saw on a z400 once, where a guy had a tow strap wrapped and tied around the frame behind the bumper, would this work?

And when pullin someone with a 400ex, where should i hook it to? their isnt really a safe place to connect it to the frame, but the grab bar would bend if i hooked it to it wouldnt it?

Plz answer as many as you can, cuz i found out the other day that i want to be ready for problems on the trails

The grab bar won't bend if you hook a tow strap to it, unless its a blaster, those grab bars suck. You can pritty much just wrap the tow strap around any part of the frame that is out of the way. on my 300ex I would stick one of those big gatorade bottles between the 2 front frame rails right behind the bumper, and it was a perfect fit.

Me and my friends just use a tie down

I bought a polaris strap and snapped it when towing my wolverine out of a mud hole. My dad bought a 1 inch towstrap for christmas and that'll take alot to snap.

when I had no battery I had part of a tie doun strap wraped around my front bumper. just in case i stalled.

I can fit a lot of that kind of crap in my air box. I keep some zip ties in there latley. dont know why, they are just in there.

Hey, that gave me an idea....could i tape a spark plug thats still in the box, to the inside of my airbox? or maybe to the lid incase any water got in, the plug would be above it and dry?

and wtf do u do with this tow strap? i thought they all had hooks on them, wuts this thing

that has a clevice on one end, say you drove a truck and you were pulling out a truck that was stuck, you put the loop on your trailer hitch ball then unscrew that silver thing (clevice) and fasten the strap on the truck thats stuck, attach the clevice through the loop and around the strap. its so you dont have to make a loop to hook it on the stuck truck and then put the strap on your truck. more that likely if you make a loop the damn strap gets pinched on the stuck truck and makes a shred in your strap. sorry man its so hard to explain somethin on a keyboard, hope this helps...

do u think 20 ft. is too long? it seems like i wouldnt be able to wrap it around my frame cuz it would be way too long

and wut about the spark plug in the airbox idea? good or bad? where do u guys put your spare spark plugs when u go on the trails?

to change a plug in a 400 you will need to pretty much tear the whole thing down....

wut sized tow straps do yall use

FasstMidnightZ

get the 20 foot one ;)

it will be better in the end. If your quad rolled down a 17 foot hill and a quad or truck had to pull you out then a 15 foot tow strap wouldnt do much good would it ???? :p

but i would get the 20 ft one.

anyone else? im about to order it so i would like as much input as possible on the width/length/breaking strength

If you get a 20 foot long, 2 inch wide tow strap, its designed as a vehicle tow strap, so using it for quads isn't a problem. Strength won't matter with a strap that size.

And you guys think 400 spark plugs are hard to get to......try a cannondale.:eek2:
