Gas?

I am thinking of getting a honda 400ex that has a big bore kit in it (440). I has a 12.5:1 compression and i was wondering what octain of gas i should run. he said he runs 98 and said i can get away with 94 but it will backfire. What do you think?

try and run premium pump gas and if it does ping or back fire try makeing some adjustments on the carb first, and if it still pings run a 50/50 mix of pump and race gas
