Since converting my 250R to a 450R rear brake set up, I can say it has worked great with no problems at all, but I have received a few PM's regarding problems a couple guys have had when doing this conversion. It seems they are having a problem with the length of the threaded sleeve the lock nut goes on, it seems to be too short and they can't get enough length to butt up against the clip. I really can't explain this, but I have double checked the OEM part numbers and the 250R and the 450R share the same part numbers for the the lock nuts and sleeve. I have added some new pics comparing an extra sleeve I had with the one currently on my quad. Please keep in mind, I did not replace the nut when I did this, I just used the one that was on my bike at that time. As you can see, there's about 3/8" of sleeve in my nut.

here is a pic of my set up. i was thinking of getting another stock nut and cutting the the last 1/4 inch off of it to use it as a spacer.

Do you have your c-clip on the carrier to hold the caliper bracket in place? I can't see it in the pic and it looks like the bracket isn't on the carrier all the way.

i didnt put the clip on since i got to take it all apart to put bearings in. I had one of those spacers for the 85 nut assembly laying around and that added enough to tighten it. Once it was tight there wasnt very many threads left. I found out that the 250r threaded piece is longer than the 450r. so i put that in and had more threads left. when do you plan on doing the fronts?

Your 250R threaded collar is longer? I'll have to double check the microfiche, I thought they were the same. I could be wrong on this. Those '85 spacers should be used on every year, especially on the stock brake system, it gives the outer nut a few more threads to hold onto. I plan on doing the front, but will probably hold off until this winter, after race season ends.
