The day was going to be HOT. 20 teams were ready to race and boy did we have a surprise for them!
We lined up the starting line, then told them that the last row would go first cause they had to run to their bikes, then turn them around backwards, cause the track entered behind them!!!

On lap one, Mike Houston and Santo DeRisi still hadn't passed all the riders that started off in front of them, here, Mike is trying to pass one more on the motocross track.

Bonnie Cook

On the end of lap two, Santo DeRisi took over the lead, but Mike Houston was right behind him.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:43 AM
On lap four, Bryan Cook (Mike Houston's teammate) took over the lead with Noel Cook out on the track for Santo.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:44 AM
Here Noel Cook comes in for second place, getting ready to switch off with DeRisi

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:45 AM
With Bryan Cook out on his third lap, Santo DeRisi has reeled his team back into contention, right with first place.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:46 AM
By lap six, Houston was back out front and pulling away.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:46 AM

Bonnie Cook

Santo DeRisi still in second, but these boys needed to know, it was a six hour race, it was Hot (temperatures reaching into the 90's) it was going to be a long day!

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:48 AM
Here, one of the A Class teams - Matt Parker with teammate Jimmy Houston Jr.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 06:48 AM
Another A Class team - Joey and Chris Coogler, both sharing Joey Coogler's Honda.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:00 AM
Just three hours into the race, here Cook is out front.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:00 AM
Ryan Reed, here racing through the woods. His teammate was Kevin Johnston in the B Class.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:01 AM
Shon Franklin, here in third place (teammate Travis Styles) was holding off fourth place by less than a minute.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:02 AM
Here is Josh Allen in fourth ( teammate Cory Salmon). These boys experienced quad trouble early on in the race, having to share Josh's Yamaha. Then after two hours of racing, Josh's quad blew up too, so they were out of the race next, leaving them to finish fifth.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:03 AM
Here Angela Mason, teammate Jenna Gray, is racing hard in the C 30+ Class

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:05 AM
In the woods, Bryan Cook holds the lead still.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:07 AM
After several more grueling hours of racing - Cook is ready to pass the torch on to his teammate Mike Houston.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:09 AM
Mike Houston is out, ready to make up some more time.
By this time in the race, Houston and B.Cook are the only riders on the lead lap. They have even lapped second place, Santo DeRisi and Noel Cook. Luckily, their team has not endured any bad luck.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:12 AM
In third place, Travis Styles is racing hard, only a few minutes behind Noel Cook and Santo DeRisi. Here, Styles has already lost his nose cone, and his rear plastic has taken a beaten, but he still rolls in consistently fast lap times.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:13 AM
After nearly five hours of racing, this rider is catching some sleep before his partner comes in.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:14 AM
Once Houston lapped DeRisi, his team has stayed right in with them for the remainder of the race. Here Bryan Cook is coming in to switch off and DeRisi is right behind them (but a lap down).

One team rider that showed up to the track, without a partner was Jim Houston Sr. But, he lucked out when Jeff Robinson showed up with his quad, looking for a relaxing weekend. After bumming some clothes, he took off as Houston Sr's partner in the 30+ C Class. After several hours of racing his new quad, Jeff was forced to board Houston's quad and finish the race.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:17 AM
Coming in to get scored, Jeff Robinson is the second rider.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:17 AM
It was getting near the end of the six hours and these riders were looking tired. Here, Bryan Cook waits on Mike Houston to finish his laps.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:19 AM
After a rough day for Santo DeRisi - his teammate, Noel Cook suffered a rough crash early in the race causing him a wrist, back, and neck injury. Then Santo's dry brake gas tank was leaking, spewing gas down his graphics and burning his inner legs. This team was racing on hard luck and a good time. Here Santo is still happy with the day.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:20 AM
Out on the race track, Santo wasn't showing any mercy. Here he races hard to keep practicing for pushing himself.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:20 AM
Here Bryan Cook brought it in for the last lap to be on Mike Houston.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:21 AM
Houston was waiting, you could see the tiredness in his eyes, but he is a fighter to make a fast last lap still.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:22 AM
Here Will Cashion takes one more lap. His teammate Nathan Boyd and he are racing in the A Class.

Bonnie Cook
07-12-2005, 07:23 AM
And the checkered flag is out!
Congratulations to Mike Houston and Bryan Cook on their Overall.
