my local fair is having atv sled pulls and they have a 2wd class with 0 to 450cc. i am going to enter my 416 but was wondering if i should start in first or second gear? any tips or advice would be great. i have raced many events but have never done a sled pull. thanks

i would think that you would want to start in first, then maybe shift to second. But ive never done it, so....There is someone on here that posted about pulling about a month ago. Maybe he will see it and post some pointers.

well today i got my hitch made for my 400 and i hitched my 750lb trailer behind it today. i started in 1st gear and it pulled with no problem so i think i will start in first and shift to second if needed. i was thinking about doing the mx race there but i have done those before but have not ever done the sled pulling before. i like to try everything once and the sled pulling is only 20 bucks and the mx is 30 to enter.

i've done this a time or three

the sled i pulled there was no shiftin or you stopped

i ran a a 14f 40r gear setup with 22 maxxis razr tires also had a stock motor on a few of them pulls
but also had a sparks 440

always could start in second and somtimes thrid but had to slip the clutch some

also no rear shock

made a solid bar to replace it and keep it about an 2 inches shorter than the stock shock in the riding position

can run 20 inch tires with 10 to 12 psi

they worked better for the 3rd gear take offs

20 razr 2

possible 2nd, but it will take a little clutch slippage

after seein sport quads try 2 attempt pullin don't do it 4 these reasons why
1. spin 2 much not traction
2 rev too high 2 quickly
3 its like doin a tug of war you can either tear and axle out or grab bar
4 really hjard on chains and clutches
5 oullin is an event for utes to shine and have better changes of winnin because they don't rev 2 high 2 quick and they are made 2 tow sport quads are not
